HELP

Help is something we do not seem to do enough of. We carry on our lives and ignore what’s going on around us. There are so many people around the globe who could use  some kind of help, be it clothes, some money for food, education, anything, to make their lives a little comfortable.

There are people helping as much as they can. I loved the idea when Rashmi from Mind and Life matters, decided to donate some money on behalf of the contestant who gets first place in the limerick challenge, to the local food bank. It’s going over well.

Daily Prompt: I Am a Rock

Is it easy for you to ask for help when you need it, or do you prefer to rely only on yourself? Why?

Normally I can do my work on my own, sometimes I need help.

When the situation arises it is easy for me to ask for help. It happened once to me when I was backing out of my driveway. My car got stuck in the pile of snow at the end of our driveway. The wheels kept turning, I didn’t want to be late to my place of work.

Having no other alternative I stopped three sons of my neighbor who were going to school  and asked for help. They were very friendly, they put their bags on the snow and gave a push to my car, it took only minutes to get the car unstuck. I thanked them and drove to school.

Daily Prompt: I am a Rock

Is it easy for you to ask for help when you need it, or do you prefer to rely on yourself? Why?

I prefer to do it myself. If the task is something I cannot handle, it is easy for me to ask for help.

Once I was backing out of the driveway, my car got stuck in the  pile of snow, my husband’s idiotic nephew, stayed inside  and looked out the window.

Three sons of my neighbor were going to school, I stopped them and asked  for help. The boys were very accommodating, they  came and pushed the car.

When I need help I ask the people I know.

365 Writing Prompts: Love to love yourself

What do you love most about yourself ? What do you love most about your favorite person? Are the two connected?

I love everything about myself, I am not selfish, I love children, I love good friends.

I never wanted to be anyone else but me, I am proud of my parents,my mom taught me how to deal with people, she was extremely religious, she pointed out if  I was doing anything wrong. I learned a lot from my mother.

I try to help my friends and family whenever the situation demands.

My favorite person is a very kind, extremely nice individual, we agree with each other, ‘that kindness is never wasted.’

365 Writing Prompts: Sorry, I’m busy

Tell us about a time when you should have helped someone but you didn’t.

I do remember someone I know wanted me to help her with some of the translations I’ve done of Tagore’s work, actually she wanted to have them for her son who was working as a story teller somewhere outside North America. I felt I didn’t want her to have them because I wasn’t sure what she intended to do with them.

This is one I can remember,I always do help when I’m asked, I met a new resident in our town she wanted to learn how to make “Ras Gullah”(cheese balls in Syrup) it’s a dessert famous in Bangladesh, I went to her house and showed her how it’s made, whether she tried or not I don’t know.

Writing my eulogy sounds strange . Let me see what I’d want others to write. I was a nice person. My neighbors liked me. I didn’t have many friends. Ones I had didn’t have anything negative to say about me.

I did not interfere in the private lives of my friends or family. Sometimes I went out of my way to help,which was cautioned by my Dad at a very early age. I was happy doing my own thing. I loved music and didn’t mind playing the records repeatedly.

I liked reading spiritual books. Tagore, Iqbal and Ghalib were my favourite writers.

Some people are born good teachers ,some learn as they go along. To be a great teacher,it is important to be dedicated to the task at hand. It can come naturally,  to some ,others need to learn the art of teaching from following colleagues and reading  articles by successful teachers.It is not easy but it can be accomplished.

Teachers are expected to know their students well.By knowing I mean you have to observe them.Some days they may have a bad day,when learning is not possible. It is necessary to show each student that a teacher thinks about them and wants to help them when they need it. It will give them confidence and the desire to learn and co-operate with their teacher.When there is a friendly atmosphere between the teacher and the taught,things will run smoothly. Parents will have faith and discuss with friends and family,how their kid is doing well in school.They will be optimistic about their kid and have good things to say about the school and the teachers in it.

To teach is to take on a huge responsibility,it is not just a 9 to 5 job it is helping to produce great leaders  for the country. Great teachers work for the future of the country,they know that they should take their job seriously.

I do not have trouble asking for help if and when I need it. There are things I can do without help. But there have been times I couldn’t. I sought help from teachers when I could not tackle a particular problem in Math, I approached my older brothers when I could not quite comprehend ,’The Quantity Theory Of Money’,instead of spending too much time on it,I’d get my brother’s help. My neighbour helped me with the car,when my husband was away.

I cannot be a rock. There are things I have to do,but I require some assistance.
