Got a soul-mate and /or a best friend? What is it about that person that you love best? Describe them in great detail__leave no important quality out.

I have a best friend in fact I have two, one I met in College the other in the University. The one I met in College is Evie, she is a very thoughtful and kind person. In college She was one of my dormitory mates. She is sweet and caring, she calls me frequently, tells me not to call her, I guess she does not want me to spend money in long distance charges.

I told her it doesn’t cost me too much, but she insists she’d make the call. This shows how good natured she is. She came to Canada before me and wrote to me, at that time I had no idea I’d come to Canada too. We have kept up our friendship.

My other best friend Is Mini, I met her in the university, she and I both studied History. Mini used to send her car to pick me up when I was Dhaka, Bangladesh. There was a time I needed transportation to visit some places she sent her chauffeur every day to pick me up and go where I needed to get some of my work done. She is a very nice person who is always ready to help.

The above women are my best friends, they’d do anything for me if I needed.

You’re asked to nominate someone for Time’s Person of the year. Who would it be and why?

There are only a handful of people I know, I thought about them individually, there is one that shows up in my mind, above others,  according to me he has all the qualities to be nominated, “Time’s Person Of The Year.”

The following are the attributes of this person: he is kind, helpful, brilliant and has written a few amazing books.

His books are used in school syllabus for students.

He is quiet and humble, to me these are  perfect qualities to be nominated, ‘Time’s Man Of The Year.’

Q is the letter I will not use. Let me see if it works.

I have an assignment to do. I’m not sure how long it will take. I have to write what does the lesson tell me about myself. It tells a lot,or let me put it this way, I have thought about it long and hard and I’m amazed to find there are things I have learned which I’m totally unaware of.

I am of the opinion this is i.e., a lesson that can be helpful to a lot of people.

DP Daily Prompt: Cheering Section Post by Ranu

My mentor is a very generous person. He is an excellent writer. He won several medals. He is humble, kind and extremely helpful.

I am not any one’s mentor.I do not possess the qualities of such a person.

I was spending my time watching movies online,or tennis.I watched TV but not that much. I read novels in a language from my childhood,I was beginning to lose my fluency,I did not know any one in town,to practice it. I bought novels to help me  remember it.

I got hold of my daughter’s computer, learned some basic things. I would type in the name of the person,I wanted to know about.Things were going fine.I wasn’t pleased I felt I could do more, but what,I had no idea. Luckily I found this person on the internet,he was giving online courses on,Allama Iqbal, the opportunity of registering in the course presented itself when I inquired about it.

I am a regular course participant . My mentor has helped me to get my confidence. In the beginning I didn’t think I could do it. I had no background, slowly I began to feel comfortable, because of my mentor, who is also the facilitator of the course.I feel much better,I am using my time learning something, instead of watching movies or silly shows which is a sheer waste of time.

DP Daily Prompt: Bittersweet Memories Post by Ranu

It was a few years ago,I received some of my brothers things. His lawyer sent them to me as gifts. My brother died of cancer. Before his death ,he made out a will.   His instruction was to send me his books and his computer. When I opened the box,the computer and his books were neatly packed. In the corner of the large box, there was a small box. I had no idea what was in it. I opened it and to my surprise found two gold medals. These were the medals he received when he stood first in the final high school exam.

He knew I was very happy when he got those medals. To this day I don’t know why he decided to give them to me. These medals brought back sweet memories of my brother. He was a very hardworking student. His teachers were very fond of him. He was always courteous and helpful.

I sat in front of the box with the medals in my hand.I was remembering the day when he brought them home. My mother and all of us were so proud of him. I still have them . I look at them and remember him and wish he was still with us!
