Daily Prompt: Decisions,Decisions

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

How are you more likely to make an important decision- by reasoning through it, or by going with your gut?

Actually I don’t make decisions important or not by reasoning, neither do I go with my gut. I think for a few minutes and take action. This has been the case with me all my life.

I never think about my ability I go ahead and apply for any course I study, although, I make sure I have the requisite qualification.

There is one thing I do where I apply some reasoning, when I’m traveling by bus this one is whether I should get off at my stop ,near my home or go on to the mall. This is how I do it, what will I accomplish by going to the mall, when I think of it, I’ll go there and enter through one door and come out the other I changed my decision.

Today was the day I went out, my return by bus gave me two options, go straight to the mall, walk around to get my required steps,I’m wearing the Garmin which records the number of steps I take from early morning till bedtime. The reasoning was not convincing enough, I decided I’d go home instead which is what I did.

As it happens I was fortunate, I succeeded in reaching my goal by 5PM. What did I do I worked in the kitchen, I had plenty of occasion to walk in my kitchen.

My decision to avoid the mall worked. I know it’s not worth mentioning, but I did make the right decision by my reasoning.

DP Daily Prompts: My Hero

Who’s your Hero? Tell us a story about why that person plays such an important role in your life.

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

After my father passed away, my mother took care of us, she cooked for us, she kept our house in order. She looked after our needs and made sure we had everything, i.e, clothes, books,  and a safe environment.

My Dad left sufficient funds in my mother’s name. My mother used some of the money to buy  a house in Comilla, it’s a small town in Bangladesh, we grew up there.

My mom was a very religious lady, she told me stories of the Prophet, and taught all of us that we must never tell a lie. A lie is never forgiven by God unless our life is in danger.

She reminded us that if we  do not like someone we  must never talk behind his/her back.

She was a very kind lady, the beggars who came to our house called her Ma, my mother fed them when they asked for food.

One evening someone came to our house and said, “Ma please give me some food.”

My mom immediately sent the food for this person, she was curious she knew no one comes this late in the evening and asks for food, out of curiosity she opened the door to see who it was, she was surprised to see the rickshaw driver eating, when she asked him why he begged for food at that hour, he said he finished his job , he was hungry, he knew if he came to our house my mom will give him something to eat.

My mom had a very important role in our lives, she was always there when we needed her. She filled the role of a Mom and a Dad.

Letter F

Fair and Fare went to school one day

They didn’t see the difference

Between Fair and fare

Fair means just and Fare means

A ticket, which you

Have to buy when you

Go on a plane !

Fair said, “Oh teacher now I know”

My name means a ticket

Fare said you stupid

You got it all wrong

Your name means just

And mine means a ticket!

They squealed and  squabbled

But couldn’t come to any conclusion

For they thought their teacher wasn’t

Fair or Fare, Oh let’s forget it

friendship is more important

Than Fair or Fare!

Writing Prompt: Judgement Day

If you were to judge your favourite book by its cover, would you still read it?

First of all I pick up books by their title not cover. Most of the time I don’t pay attention to the cover of a book. I read the title and if I’m impressed I read it, not once but several times.

If I were to judge my favourite book by its cover, I’d definitely read it. To me cover is not important.

DP Daily Prompt: My Number One

My father was the most important person in my life. He was a very busy man. He went to work at 8 am in the morning, Came home at 5  pm. Every day I looked forward to the time,he’d come home and say, ‘Ranu, how are you today?”  I’d sit down and tell him about everything  that happened in school. He’d sit by my side and listen.

One day he came back  and found me crying. It disturbed him. I always smiled and came running to him. I told him about my day. It was unusual , he asked, ‘Ma ,what’s wrong?’  I told him the servant served cold food, cold food gives me a stomach  ache. Dad was not impressed. The servant was warned. From that day my food was never cold.

I’ll give a short introduction about the next one. I always washed my clothes,I didn’t let the servant wash them. I knew they cannot wash better than me. That day it was raining, it was my day to wash my clothes. Mom was cooking in the kitchen. I asked her where will I put my clothes to dry, because it was raining outdoors.  Mom yelled at me and told me to leave. I was sad. I carried the clothes and walked in front of my Dad’s room. He smiled and said, ‘What are you doing Ma’. I was in a bad mood, I said, ‘don’t talk to me.’ Hours later I was my old self again, I laughed and talked with my Dad. he looked at me and said,  ‘why were you angry earlier?’ I told him Mom was angry with me.  He smiled and said, ‘your Mom was angry and you got angry with me.’    ‘ Well   that’s okay as long as it made you feel better.’

This was my Dad the most affectionate person in my world. How can anyone else take his place?

DP Daily Prompt: We Can Be Taught Post By Ranu

Some people are born good teachers ,some learn as they go along. To be a great teacher,it is important to be dedicated to the task at hand. It can come naturally,  to some ,others need to learn the art of teaching from following colleagues and reading  articles by successful teachers. It is not easy but it can be accomplished.

Teachers are expected to know their students well.By knowing I mean you have to observe them. Some days they may have a bad day, when learning is not possible. It is necessary to show each student that a teacher thinks about them and wants to help them when they need it. It will give them confidence and the desire to learn and co-operate with their teacher. When there is a friendly atmosphere between the teacher and the taught, things will run smoothly. Parents will have faith and discuss with friends and family, how their kid is doing well in school. They will be optimistic about their kid and have good things to say about the school and the teachers in it.

To teach is to take on a huge responsibility,it is not just a 9 to 5 job it is helping to produce great leaders  for the country. Great teachers work for the future of the country, they know that they should take their job seriously.

DP Daily Prompt: Luxurious Post by Ranu

Luxury to me is something desirable for comfort and enjoyment. Where I live now, having an electric stove to cook my food without interference  is a kind of luxury I cannot do without. There have been times when we lost power, because of inclement weather. We had no way of cooking the bare necessity, such as a cup of tea. We had a lot of problems,we had to go to the restaurant to eat. I don’t mind eating out once in a while, but six whole days was tough to take.

I would say having electricity is a blessing for me. There are other things, I consider electricity the most important,I cannot live without it.
