365 Writing Prompts: April 2, 2015

When I was a child, I was never attached  to any inanimate object. Sure I played with some, at the end of the day, it disappeared, I did not care to look for it.

We my siblings and I spent hours playing with flat pieces of stone, we lay one on top of the other, when it had a reasonable height, we struck it with a round stone to scatter the flat pieces, this continued until we had enough of it.

Our next interest was to explore the neighborhood, there were many queer places which always attracted our attention, one day we decided to visit one of the places, it was near a race course, we walked on and on and suddenly saw a crowd of people ,we had to know what they were up to. We were delighted to see a group of people frying parathas  in a giant-sized wok outdoors. These flat round breads looked delicious. We had no money but the guys were giving them to every one there, we stood watching them one of them invited us to join them.

I can still taste those delicious flat breads.

Attaching myself to material objects I fear is a waste of time, if it is lost I’d be weeping for endless number of days. My way is better playing with stones found on the ground can never attract anyone’s attention, it can be left anywhere there is no danger of losing them.

DP Daily Prompt: Mirror Mirror Post by Ranu

The Mirror

The Mirror (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Mirror  Mirror what do I see. My bedroom laughing in glee! Why? I’ll tell you why. Perhaps she is thrilled to pieces for having a person like the gentle lady occupying the bedroom. The pictures are there, they are not moved around every three days. It’s occupant is not giving her a tough time changing the furniture every few seconds. She is peaceful.Which according to her is heaven on earth!

What’s more there are no intruders disturbing her tranquility. It’s when the good lady opens the doors of her closet, the screechy sound  hurts her ears. But the mirror rather see a room where there is movement every now and then, otherwise it might seem she is viewing a morgue. It is unacceptable. She is happy knowing the owner needs her services to comb her hair,to get dressed, and place all the paraphernalia in front of her.She is always glad to oblige!

It wasn’t liking  the presence of cats. The cats kept coming and going. They got more attention than the mirror. So one day she took matters in her hand. She decided enough is enough. She is going to have a talk with  this lone member in the room. As soon as she walked in the mirror made a crackling sound. Astonished the lady said,”What’s wrong with you, my dear Mirror?”  ” I’m  unhappy” she  said. “Why”? said the lady.  Mirror:”either you do away with your pets or I’m going to leave.”  Lady:”You know I cannot do that.”  Well then said the Mirror,”I’m going to make a quick exit”. Lady,” how can you make an exit, you are a mirror, and an inanimate object at that”. Mirror was furious,” You Watch what I can do”. Immediately it made a loud noise and broke into smithereens.Nothing was left except broken pieces. So this ends the story of the Mirror. The end was spectacular!
