Writing Prompt: The Transporter

Tell us about a sensation— a taste, smell, a piece of music that transports you back to childhood.

This is the song that takes me back to my childhood. It is a song by Tagore, the singer is Hemant Kumar and translated by me,Ranu.

I am a lost traveler

I am evening’s jasmine

Morning’s Arabian jasmine

Do you recognize me?

I am a lost traveler

I came to see you

I recognize you

Young traveler

Your colorful clothes

fly from forest to forest!

You are Spring

mornings restless light

chaitra night’s

unconcerned traveler

we are floating your way!

I am a lost traveler

Who is calling

this crazy homeless man

In a sad tune

when he plays his

flute and roams around?

Oh indifferent man

I am calling you

I am  mango blossom

Before I saw you

My eyes dreamed of you

And pained me

I loved you before

I recognized you!

I am a lost traveler

When the day is done

I am finished playing

I will go on the heated

And dusty road

On the chariot of flowers

Who will be with me?

I will stay with you

Oh indifferent traveler

I am the sad gratuity!

At late night of Spring

the thought of

Farewell gives me hidden pain

I weep a flood of tears

I am a lost traveler

I came to see you!

You loved this green earth,

your smile exposed your inner happiness.

By joining the current of the universe.

You learned contentment,

That is why your heart was ready to steal.

This green earth belonged to you.

Today this indifferent earth and sky,

makes you look back.

your smile,  the happiness of viewing

they are singing the farewell song

leaving the village and its clump of trees.

You have painted that joy

and left it in my eyes.

I am alone today, I see with our eyes,

By staying in my heart you are enjoying it__

In the pupil of my eye you have

painted that charm .

Today I have given up everything , I no longer go after anyone;

I am not interested in anything

I fearlessly go after every opportunity,

I don’t think or keep in touch with anything;

If I am unable to go up

I am happy to stay down.

I go here and there,whatever I can get I take it;

I don’t use force to grab it.

Whatever I think I can’t keep I let it go immediately;

I don’t scold anyone, and no one scolds me;

Whatever  thoughts I have at the bottom of my heart

I let it remain there,I avoid bringing it up.

Do not say, ‘It is morning,’ and dismiss it with a name of yesterday. See it for the first time as a newborn child that has no name. – Rabindranath Tagore (Photo credit: Tacos and turtles)

I have freedom now,I’m leaving my thoughts and running;

I quickly came into the play-house.

I refuse to take the burden of heart-break,

I’ll forget everything completely;

I’ll return the fetters to the owner

After a long time I’m able to pull myself together.

I did not appreciate the beautiful flowers of springtime;

I was busy collecting them.

I was a honey-bee only desirous of collecting,

I was thirsty for honey,I didn’t see the quality of the flower___

I only crushed the flower lazily

when I was completely involved with it.

I am moving around in far-off places,I’m interested in nothing,

This is why the universe is moving behind me.

I do not hold anyone in my grip,

I gave everyone an opportunity to blossom on their own;

When I gave up the hope of ever going up

I found all of them below me.
