DP Daily Prompt: Winning Streak

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

What’s the longest stretch you’ve ever pulled off of posting daily to your blog? What did you learn about blogging through that achievement, and what made you break the streak.

My longest stretch of blogging I believe is several months. During this long stretch I’ve realized how important it is for me to blog every day, if there is a break I’d lose a lot of my fellow bloggers , although I only have a few who read and give their valuable comment, I do learn a lot from them.

It keeps me motivated to read other posts, write comments, helps me think, there is a lot I’ve achieved some of my blogger friends write very useful comments, I appreciate them and try to write something that may be of interest.

I only missed a few days of blogging, I went to Montreal,  although I had internet first few days, I lost it for a couple of days, our landlord is a great guy he fixed the problem immediately!

365 Writing Prompts: New internet order

All the world’s countries have decided that the internet itself needs a government. Your country asks you to run for Prime Minister of the ‘Net– do you accept? if so what will your platform be?

This seems a very interesting prompt, run for Prime Minister of the internet of my country.

Here is the problem if I accept it just for fun, Politics whether it’s internet or real as is happening in countries now, is not a very enticing job for me. I watch all the commercials on TV , how one candidate brings out  all the negative things, about the other just to get ahead in the polls.

Internet politics will not be any different, keeping this fact in mind, I’ll say, Thank you ,but no I do not accept.

DP Daily Prompt: Breaking the Ice

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

The internet has been swept up by the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Is there a cause–social, political, cultural, or other– you passionately believe in? Tell us how you got involved or why you don’t get involved.

I’m sure social, cultural, political or any other noise was always there, it was not felt as much as they do now, the internet, TV videos are helping people to get carried away these days.

Maybe we have too many mediums to make ourselves heard,to take advantage of it. At the end of the day when all who are involved take an account of what they have accomplished might find out their involvement did not make that much difference.

I always disliked politics, the politicians never tell the truth, they will visit you before the election, once elected they fail to recognize you. I always stay away from politics.

As far as being social, I’ve tried to be one, but quickly found out you have to act and react a certain way to be welcomed by the group, I’ve therefore realized I must stay aloof.

I have yet to find out the meaning of cultural, it is defined differently by whoever according to their convenience. I refuse to join with the snobs, it therefore leaves me with nothing and I am okay with it.

365 Writing Prompt: We can be taught

Tell us a moment or an incident that you treasure — not necessarily because it brought you happiness, because it taught you something about yourself.

In my childhood I was known for my curiosity, I was never satisfied with a simple answer to my question ,my family had to deal with my why questions,my eldest brother used to be tired of my continuous why questions so much he’d warn me about the famous phrase, “Curiosity killed a cat.”

This never changed my habit of asking the why questions. In 2010 I accidentally heard two verses of Poet and Philosopher Allama Iqbal’s poem, “Masjid toh bana di shab bhar mein” meaning you built the mosque in one night. It aroused my curiosity so much I had to find out why he wrote it ,to me there had to be a reason.I got the help of the internet and got my answer. I realized then how much I adored the writing of this man, I wondered how I could learn more about him.

I thought of my eldest brother who showed me a book where the words, “seek and you shall find” was on the cover of the book, I was eight years old, my brother asked if I understood what the words meant.I looked at him and said, “it means if you look for it you’ll find it.” I did not pay too much attention to it. Those words reverberated in my mind, ‘seek and you shall find.’ when I thought more of how to know more about this awesome Poet and Philosopher Allama Iqbal.

I was amazed how easily I found out what I wanted to know. I was introduced to another great personality via internet he helped me  register in the online course, which was all about Iqbal, I started taking the course since 2011 and am still doing it and learning more and more about my favorite poet.

It seemed to be an ordinary incident which started with my curiosity and ended up helping to know myself better than I ever knew. It has brought me the kind of happiness I never thought possible, one more time I’d conclude by saying,”Seek  And You Shall Find.”

DP Daily Prompt: Silver Linings Post by Ranu

Sir Muhammad Iqbal

Sir Muhammad Iqbal (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

There are quite a few things happened in my life, which I can  say are ugly or distasteful .I find solace in thinking, maybe something good will come out of it.

I spent days and months watching hideous shows.I did not learn anything from them,I only wondered why do they waste their time creating something that is teaching nothing good but everything ugly and repulsive. All these I watched on YouTube. Suddenly I saw an actor, singing a song,I loved the tune,I continued to watch it. I wanted to know who he was, I read about him and my interest in this person, led me to another famous personality, his name is Allama Mohammad Iqbal, I was able to get all the information about him through the internet. It is a tool where  you can get a lot of good and bad things. It depends on our preference. I took online courses offered through Iqbal Academy.I was delighted I was learning something useful. My time was used wisely.

I no longer watch shows to pass my time. I am actually gaining knowledge I didn’t have. From online courses I added blogging in my list.I’m having a whale of a time.I read posts by other bloggers,I get recipes posted by them, gorgeous photographs by bloggers and a whole bunch of things.Everyday I learn something new from WordPress and from bloggers. I can definitely see the silver linings now more than ever. The encouraging comments from bloggers  helps  me to keep on writing.
