DP Daily Prompt: First Sight

Whether a person,a pet, an object or a place , write about something or someone you connected with from the very first second.

About a year ago, my daughter and I decided to adopt a kitten. It is a beautiful Siamese and Himalayan breed .When we got the feline ,he was only six weeks old.

I remember it was a Sunday,my daughter brought him home. He was a very scared feline,next day my daughter went to work, I was curious, I went to check how he was coping.I was concerned when I didn’t find him in the room.I knew he was too scared and little to move.

I picked the covers, there he was with his paws folded trying to make himself smaller. I picked him up and brought him down to my room.

I had some emails to reply to , I laid him on my bed he was insecure he meowed quietly. I felt guilty picked him up and wrote my email with him on my lap.

We named him Gabriel, even after a week he didn’t settle in, we then made up our mind to get his brother who was the  same age as him. His personality changed dramatically , his brother was feeling insecure, he licked his brother, showed his brother the stairs, but the brother was afraid to climb up.

Gabriel led him towards the stairs and went couple of stairs to show him how to go up, it took them both only a few days to adjust. We named the second one Raphael.

They are very happy, they turned a year old on February 25th. For me and my daughter it was ” Love At First Sight!”

Fiction: Hunt

When Jaime saw her friend Mona’s kitten, she wanted one just like him, she asked Mona, from where did she get the  kitten, but got no answer, after asking  several times,Jaime was irritated, she decided to go home, as she was about to step outside the door, she heard a voice, “Seek and ye shall find!”

At first Jaime was shocked and scared, but thinking her friend was joking, she kept walking.

Her home was not too far from Mona’s, she realized she’s been walking longer than usual, she looked around, nothing looked familiar, where was she and how did she get there, then she remembered she was so angry with Mona she did not look where she was going, “I am lost how will I find my way she thought?”

A man who looked like an ogre stopped and asked if she needed help, she told him the story of her friend and the kitten, the man asked her to follow him, although terrified, she agreed, they walked a long way, the ogre stopped to get a map from his hut to find exactly where Jaime’s house was.

He came out with a piece of paper, they resumed their walk until they came to Jaime’s house, the man bid her goodbye and disappeared, Jaime was happy to reach home but sad because she couldn’t find a kitten like Mona’s, when she entered the house, her mother was waiting for her, “Jaime look she was all smiles, someone left this kitten for you.”

How I loved watching you grow

From a kitten to a cat.

Most of the time,

Not so much when you

Writing Prompt : Unconventional love

Over the week end, we explored different ways to love.Today tell us about the most unconventional love in your life.

Two weeks ago we bought a Siamese Himalayan breed kitten. My daughter and I were very happy, the little kitten was very nervous, on the first day,it didn’t eat or drink,next day it hid under the quilt, it didn’t come out. Almost a week went by we couldn’t make it comfortable. 

My daughter and I decided to get its brother from the woman, as soon as it saw its brother, it’s whole temperament changed,it was no longer the shy scared kitten.

I love them,we named the first one Gabriel and his brother Raphael. Gabriel and Raphael are the most important members of our family.

Three weeks ago I didn’t think we’d ever get kittens. Today we have them and are very pleased.

DP Daily Prompt: Make Me Smile

If you’re feeling blah what is the one thing you do that  you can count on to put a smile on your face?

 

When I am not in a good mood the presence of Nelson makes me smile. He loves to jump and watch me from the corner of his eyes to make sure I approve. There are so many things he does can make anyone angry but not me, I just look at him and say,”you naughty boy,you mustn’t get up on the stove”. He’s happy when his friend Babble is with him. Today he is unhappy and I know why,Babble is not with him,it is making me sad too. I must get his friend to make him playful again.

I am writing and watching him,he is sleeping, I am glad he is not crying. This is what puts a smile on my face.

DP Daily Prompt: Singing the Blues

We all feel down from time to time. How do you combat the blues? What’s one tip you can share with others that always helps to lift your spirits?

Lately I’m feeling blue about the weather, which continues to bother me. Our winter started I’d say from late November. Almost every day it snows, if there is one good day there’ll be several stormy days. I fear about losing power,which means everything will be at a standstill, to me no power means, no internet,no warm food, no bath, no heat nothing. I picture myself counting the hours and wondering when power will be restored.

Right now we are having a windstorm why Nature is so angry I cannot tell. Yes we are responsible, we have too many vehicles on the road polluting our skies,earth and what have you.

We have garbage thrown everywhere polluting the town or city we live in. We fail to realize we are the reason our weather has changed. One positive thing that came out of this is we are learning to recycle, which could have started a while ago,but it’s a good beginning.

When I am sad I listen to my favorite songs, I read my favorite book,I talk to my kittens, who probably wonder , “What’s wrong with her, she is too nice today?” Then there is the piano I play for a few seconds and stop because the last time I played was a long time ago,I seem to have forgotten a lot of it. My best way of lifting my spirits is to get my cook books and read the delicious recipes in there, I start my preparation, soon enough I forget what bothered me in the first place.

My one tip for someone who is having a bad day,would be to advise them to open a dessert cook book and read the recipes,pretend they are going to create that wonderful cheesecake they think about from time to time and imagine eating a slice of that wonderful creation and say to themselves, “Who says I am not a good cook, look what I have created,it’s delicious!”

Writing Prompt: Menagerie

Yes we have animals in our life. It means a lot to us. We have two kittens ,they are playful, they tell us when they are hungry. Sometimes when they do things,we do not approve, they look at us and it seems asking us, “yes we will get up on the mantel piece,what are you going to do about it.”

We have a great time with these innocent animals. I noticed they are still trying to figure me out, especially the Siamese kitten. the other one is quite used to me. He plays when he wants to, he likes his rest, he doesn’t want to move when it is his resting time.We love our kittens, the most important thing I see is, they love us unconditionally.
