Limerick: Happy
There was once a girl who won the lottery
She happily smashed all her crockery
It’s all old she said
I can buy new instead,
And spend some of my winnings on pottery!
Third Place

You’ve just won $1 billion dollars in the local lottery. you do not have to pay tax on your winnings. How will you spend the money?
You are a winner, is an expression I cannot remember hearing when it comes to chance.
According to the prompt I won $1 billion dollars in the local lottery and the best part I won’t be taxed.
The question is how will I spend the money, lately I’ve watched some game shows and even cooking shows where the contestant talked about using the money they win to pay back their student loan. I feel horrible that these young people have so much debt to pay off.
While I may not be able to pay off the student loan of everyone, I certainly will pay off the loans of students in my area with my winnings.
I’ll donate some of it to educational institutions to help pay the cost of books and other things to under-privileged students in the developing world, we know how hard it it is for the school and the students to carry out programs which require a fair amount of money.
The money left I’d donate to hospitals in Canada.

….when all you need is a knife might not be ironic, but it is unfortunate. Add your own verse, stanza, or story of badly–timed annoyance to AlanisMorisette’s  classic:
An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It’s a black fly in your chardonnay
It’s a death row pardon two minutes too late
And isn’t it ironic— don’t you think
It’s like arriving to dinner an hour late
The dining hall is closed, oh why didn’t they wait
You are hungry there is no food to eat
You see the cook giving his dog some treat
And isn’t it ironic — don’t you think
