আমি কান পেতে রই ও আমার আপন হৃদয়গহন-দ্বারে বারে বারে
কোন্ গোপনবাসীর কান্নাহাসির গোপন কথা শুনিবারে- বারে বারে ।।
ভ্রমর সেথা হয় বিবাগি নিভৃত নীল পদ্ম লাগি রে,
কোন্ রাতের পাখি গায় একাকী সঙ্গীবিহীন অন্ধকারে বারে বারে ।।
কে সে মোর কেই বা জানে, কিছু তার দেখি আভা ।।
কিছু পাই অনুমানে,কিছু তার বুঝি না বা ।
মাঝে মাঝে তার বারতা আমার ভাষায় পায় কি কথা রে,
ও সে আমায় জানি পাঠায় বাণী গানের তানে লুকিয়ে তারে বারে বারে ।

Deep down in my heart

I hear the secret sobbing and laughter

Of someone in their unknown dwelling

repeatedly

Where the bumblebee quietly

Hides in the lotus flower

Where some night bird sings

Alone in the dark

I know not how I am related to her

I see some of her glow

Partly by guessing

Occasionally I attempt

to understand her message

Which comes to me

Secretly in the form of a musical note!

In this poem Tagore is telling us,no one escapes from adversity regardless of who he is.It is a process human beings have to go through,he is no exception. Through his poem entitled “Kabbo” ,which means poetry, he explains it.

O immortal poet,

Wasn’t there joy and sorrow

hope and disappointment in your life,

Just like us?

Did you not face conspiracy, hidden pain?

Were you spared from

Insult,disrespect,suspicion,

wrongful judgement?

You had moments when

you were in need of pity but were deprived.

You also had sleepless nights

heart breaks.

You kept yourself  above

adversity

and wrote poems which blossomed

like the beautiful Lotus.

There was no trace of poverty

you did not let  sorrow and

setback

ruin the sweetness of your poems

and presented it to us before you left!

On the day of my departure I want to set aside any misunderstanding so that I can say____

whatever I saw , whatever I received, there can be no comparison.

In the middle of this glowing ocean   ruled by innumerable lotus flowers

I drank their honey ,this is why I am extremely grateful.

On the day of my departure  this is what I hope to say

In the strange world  of  earthly life I played so  many games,

I have seen unprecedented things with my eyes.

Those  that cannot be touched    gave themselves up to everyone,

if  you  want to end this  here, then finish it here___

so that I can let all know this when I am leaving.
