Your entire Community..however you define that;your hometown, your neighborhood, your family, your colleagues..is guaranteed to read your blog tomorrow. Write the post you’d like them all to see.

My post today is about people I met on my trip To Montreal. We bought the ticket in June to arrive in La Belle Province to watch Rogers Cup Tennis matches.

On the day of the quarter final matches, we went with high hopes that it would be great to watch live tennis. When we arrived at the stadium it was raining we were assured it will stop within the hour. It didn’t stop, the rain was heavier. After standing under the roof of one of the stalls, my daughter checked the tickets, she was happy to see we  were  allowed to go to the lounge until the weather clears up and the matches would start.

When we went inside the lounge, we found tables set up for four people. There were a lot of tables, where one or two people were sitting and the other two occupants were their bags. I looked at some of them but they conveniently looked the other day.

Finally I came to a place where a man was sitting, and there were three vacant chairs. By this time I was too tired to move on . I very gently asked if my daughter and I could sit down. He was nice enough to let us.It made me think why are people so selfish.

A few minutes later two young boys carrying food were looking for a place to sit I understood how frustrated they were not to find one. I called them and asked if they were looking for a table to sit. They were, but shy to ask, I told them the two chairs were vacant, they could sit. All the time they were there they kept thanking us. I wondered why the adults are not gracious enough to offer the vacant chairs occupied by their bags.

That was one scenario, next we were on a subway train, the compartment was full, there were no empty seats, a young boy stood up and offered his seat to me. I was delighted and thankful for his generosity.I thought may be the young lad was also visiting the big city and in his small  community people are more generous. So his offer to give me his seat was common and not really a big deal!

Daily Prompt:Break the Silence

When was the last time you really wanted( or needed )to say something, but kept quiet? Write a post about what you should’ve said.

Yesterday we went to watch live tennis, we bought our tickets in June. The day started with rain, I’m an optimist and told myself, well we still have time the skies will clear out and we will watch the match. It wasn’t our lucky day. The rain kept falling. I was tired of standing around, trying to stay dry. My daughter realized our tickets allows us to go to the lounge in case of inclement weather.

We went on the hunt looking for the lounge after about ten minutes we found the place, we walked in ,there were people sitting at tables, there were four chairs in each of these places, the ones who occupied the tables reserved two chairs for their bags and the other two for themselves to sit on.

I totally understand these people sitting on chairs which is exactly what one must do, I failed to comprehend why the other two vacant chairs were filled by their bags.Everywhere I turned around it was the same story.I wanted to let them know how mean they were,  I didn’t, I went all the way from St. John’s to Montreal to watch live tennis not to argue about lack of decency on the part of these so called hot shot elites.

I moved on further, I found a man sitting at a table with three vacant chairs, I was exhausted at that point, I built enough courage to ask him, if he was holding those chairs for someone. “No, he said you can sit on these two, but I’m holding one for my wife.”

I was glad I spoke or else, no one would offer. 🙂

Writing Prompt: Stranger

Have you ever had a random encounter or fleeting moment with a stranger that stuck with you?

One year I had to go to Chicago to see my brother-in-law and his wife. They had a baby, my husband couldn’t go due to his back. He was in pain 24/7, so he thought we were obligated to see the little infant, since he was unable to go, I’d have to go. I won’t mention about the reception I got this is irrelevant here.

I boarded the plane with my two little ones in the wee hours of the morning. I had to carry their paraphernalia with me, to keep them under control. I reached Montreal safe and sound with my young family. At the airport runway for some reason we had to take a shuttle to go to the airport lounge. We were waiting to get the shuttle, in my mind I was thinking how was I going to carry the bags and hold on to my kids at the same time.

A lady behind called out and said, “I see you need help , let me take one of your kids to help you go on board.”

I was sure I was getting Divine help, I was so thankful to the lady, I couldn’t think of enough words to express how grateful I was.

We reached Chicago at 10 pm. my kids were fast asleep on the plane. When the plane landed and we were ready to get off, I heard another voice behind me, this time it was a gentleman, “Excuse me ma’am, your kids are sleeping, how will you carry them out,let me help you?”

Was this another voice from up above, I thought? I was delighted to take his offer of help, he carried my younger one and my older one woke up, I held her hand and carried the bags with me.

I thanked the gentleman and walked over to see my brother-in-law who came to pick me up. He had a very stupid question which I can’t help but write, “Who was this man?”

“A nice gentleman I said who offered to help me.”
