A Hindi Song: Singer Lata Mangeshkar, known as the melody queen, translation by Ranu

https://sabethville.wordpress.com/

These nights, this season,

this laughing and making

me laugh,

you can forget me,

but do not forget

this environment.

this teasing looks,

this dizzy posture

these eyes drowned,

in dark clouds,

the quiet story

on the atmosphere’s lips,

Forget me,

but do not forget them.

In the garden,

where our story,

started,

our love and your youth,

Our warm breaths together

the threatening clouds,

the drip drop sound of the rain,

this overjoyed state,

when we lost ourselves,

You and I humming,

Do not forget these moments,

Even if you forget me!

Ghazal: Translated by Ranu

Ghazal is a genre of poetry dealing largely with topics of both worldly and spiritual love, comprising of couplets, the second part of which are in rhyme. It’s sung by Ghulam Ali, who is also the lyricist. This particular ghazal is romantic.

I will try to translate it as a story. Ranu

The story begins with the lover who tells his ex-girl friend. He is visiting her city as a traveler. He wants to see her just once to tell her. He is lost, he doesn’t know where his destination is and has no idea about where he lives.

He asks for permission to stay till dawn. He doesn’t know after leaving her where must he go. To solve his problem he needs to think.

Then he complains about his life. He has hidden the firefly in his eyes, his eyelashes are holding on to tears. He wants his ex to give him permission to shed his tears.

This is the night he wants to talk about his painful love, his lips are trembling to complain.

He needs to express his thoughts therefore he needs permission to get it out of his system.

Then he shows some anger, he says, ‘if you intended to forget me why did you accept my love?’

He continues, ‘you are unfaithful, you shouldn’t have betrayed me.’

Finally he tells her, ‘I need to ask you a few questions, please let me see you just once.’

Then there is repetition of the beginning three times. “I’ve come to your city as a stranger!”

Words of Wisdom

Since the world’s wise inhabitants are far too busy with QOVID-19,I’m borrowing selected quotes by Dalai Lama.

The purpose of religion is to strengthen the caring side of the heart. Compassion is a genuine and unbiased sense of love and concern for others. Compassion can heal not only inner anger, but the world’s violence. Compassion also means loving enemies as well as friends, which isn’t easy. In order to achieve genuine, lasting world peace based on compassion, we need a sense of universal responsibility. First, we have to try inner disarmament- reducing our own anger and hatred while increasing mutual trust and human affection.

What is reflection and
What is agony dear friend.
You talk of love day and night-
How do you define love?
Is it only torture, tears and sighs?
Why do people desire such an unpleasant thing.
To me everyone and everything is beautiful,
  novel,and pure
Deep blue sky,green forest,
white moonlight, soft like a flower-
they are all like me.
They only laugh, and sing,
They want to die a happy death-
They know not pain, or tears,
 or useless torment
Flowers wither naturally,
moonlight disappears when its job is done,
Is there anyone happier than me.
Come to me my friend,
Happy song in a happy heart,
will give you relief,
If you only cry everyday,
 at least laugh one day-
Let us all join together,
forget your misery for a day and SING!

Daily Prompts: Seven Wonders

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

Khalil Gibran once said that people will never understand one another unless language is reduced to seven words. What  would your seven words be?

Khalil Gibran was a smart man, he knew people will never understand each other, if there was:

My seven words are:

  1. Love
  2. Tolerance
  3. Equality
  4. Compassion
  5. Considerate
  6. Cooperative
  7. Peace

Continuation of the story : From my book

Yesterday I wrote about the author’s thoughts on ‘Love.’

Today someone asked, “And what of Marriage?”

He answered you were born together, and together you shall be for evermore.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love:

Let it be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup.

Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.

Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.

For only the hand of life can contain your hearts.

And stand together yet not too near  together:

For the pillars of the temple stand apart,

And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.

This is about marriage.

Will be continued 🙂

What is Love?

When asked, what is love?

The author said: When love calls you, follow him,

Though his words are hard and steep.

And when his wings enfold you yield to him,

Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.

And when he speaks to you believe in him,

Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the                                       garden.

When you love you should not say , ‘God is in my heart,’ but rather , ‘I am in the heart of God.’

To be continued  🙂

365 Writing Prompts: Unconventional love posted and translated by Ranu

Over the weekend, we explored different ways to love. Today, tell us about the most unconventional love in your life.

The unconventional love in my life is watching and listening to sad songs. here are some examples:

You are breaking my heart as if I’m only a toy

You are leaving me, who will take care of me

I’d like to change your mind,

I cannot I’m too far from you

I want to stop you , I do not have

the power to do so

I have no complaint against you,

I do have some regret

the grief that was the cause of our

separation, you are using the same

to unite us

Do not take revenge from me

on the basis of what you heard

about me, stop, listen

you can leave, but what’s the hurry

I’m only here for a short time

Why are you impatient to leave now!

I am not interested to hear

from anyone from my past

I do not want to be reminded

of the sad songs or music

Today I have a new purpose

I have forgotten yesterday’s goal

My heart is not the same,

my belief is different

I am a long way from all the sins

my life and the world has changed

I have acquired a unique knowledge

I have found a new person in me

I have reached a place

where in my eyes even God is not

far from me!
