Daily Prompt: Blogger With a Cause

If your day to day responsibilities were taken care of and you could throw yourself completely behind a cause, what would it be?

My major concern at this stage is to try to discourage smoking. This addiction takes away many lives every year. There are ads that specifically makes humans aware of how dangerous it is to smoke. Those who smoke perhaps don’t even read those ads or probably feel not everyone gets cancer because of smoking.

I know a number of people who have died from lung cancer. I’d like to take some time to educate little kids who smoke. Because they’ve seen older kids smoking they do not understand the danger of smoking, maybe in their minds they think it’s okay  it  won’t hurt.

I had a little boy in my class who started smoking at a very young age, when he was in my class I noticed his fingers were yellow. a little nine year old who had no idea how much harm he was causing his body. When I asked him the question, he simply denied. I had him sit next to my desk to do his work, and had a careful conversation with him.

During our conversation he admitted smoking, he told me he was given cigarettes by the older kids. By the time I knew him it seemed to me he was already addicted to smoking, there was no chance of turning him around.

I want to alert the kids about the dangers of smoking. I’d make sure they know  there is always a danger of getting lung cancer. I’d get some videos where they show the condition of the lungs before and after smoking. I’ve seen them it’s very scary.

To me this is the most important cause.

DP Daily Prompts: From the Top

Today, write about any topic you feel like but you must reuse your opening line( at least) two more times in the course of your post.

My topic for today is, “Lung Cancer”.

Like all cancers, cancer of the lung results from an abnormality of the cell. Normally the body maintains a system of checks and balances on cell growth so that cells divide to produce new cells only when new cells are needed. when there is disruption int this checks and balances on cell growth, it results in an uncontrolled division which eventually forms a mass known as tumor.

Like all cancers, cancer of the lung results from an abnormality of the cell.

Tumors can be benign or malignant. When we use the term cancer it means the tumor is malignant. Malignant tumors invades other tissues of the body which results of these tumors to enter into the blood stream or lymphatic system, then to other parts of the body This process is known as metastasis, lung cancer spreads early after it forms.

It is a life threatening cancer and one of the forms of cancer that is difficult to treat. Lung cancer can arise in any part of the lung, but 90% to 95% of cancers are believed to arise from the epithelial cells, the cells lining the larger and smaller airways.

Like all cancers, cancer of the lung results from an abnormality of the cell.

Prior to the 1930s lung cancer was not common. It increased dramatically over the following decades when tobacco smoking increased.

DP Daily Prompt: Unexpected Ranu’s post

I lost my niece couple of years ago. I can remember seeing her in London for the first time. She was a little girl. She was very happy to see me. I loved the way she addressed me ,she would say,”Auntie” in her British accent. I knew she loved chocolate,I always had a bar for her whenever I went for a visit.

It was a sad day for her parents and me. She went to work and suddenly collapsed  in the office, her colleagues rushed her to the hospital. The doctor performed a lot of tests. She was diagnosed with lung cancer. She was hospitalized for a while, when she felt a bit better, she was allowed to go home. She was an optimist. When she was in the hospital, she told us she will fight the disease and soon will recover.

It didn’t happen. She died leaving behind her parents, husband, children and aunts and uncles!
