DP Daily Prompt: Fight or Flight

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

Write about your strongest memory of heart-pounding, belly twisting nervousness: What caused the adrenaline? Was it justified? How did you respond?

It happened a couple of days ago, I was leisurely walking to the bus stop, suddenly I noticed the bus coming, I was a few yards away, I raised my hand a few times for the driver to see, I started walking as fast as I could. I did not want to miss the bus, it was a cold windy day.

I think I was justified to speed up the walking, if I didn’t, not only I’d miss the bus, I’d have to wait thirty minutes to catch the next one and it would be a pain for me, I’d be cold and impatient two things which would rouse my temper and I’d be pacing back and forth thinking should I go back home or should I stay!

DP Daily Prompt: Secret Admirers

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

You return home to discover a huge flower bouquet waiting for you , no card attached. Who is it from__ and why did they send it to you?

The bouquet of flowers I received was in my classroom, placed neatly on my desk. It was from a group of students, who thought I was the nicest teacher they’ve ever met.

It was something they did to show their appreciation. I truly enjoyed teaching them and they enjoyed having me as their teacher.

The students left a number of gifts from time to time, sometimes it was a box of chocolate, a cup and saucer, or even a seashell . The shell one of them left for me was a large one, if I put it close to my ears I could hear the sound of the sea. Unfortunately I forgot to take it home, and found it missing the next day. I still think about it.

It was a joy teaching those sweet kids, they always wanted me to read stories to them.

Their gifts always meant they were happy to have me as a teacher. I miss them!

DP Daily Prompt: Mind Reader

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

Who’s the first person you saw before reading this prompt? Whether it’s a family member, a co-worker, or a total stranger, write a post about what that person is thinking right now.

Oh it’s my favorite brother,I know what he’s thinking right now, I could use some sleep now but this stupid work that popped up in my brain right now spoiled it. I didn’t have enough sleep, I did my school duty, what’s that you’d like to know eh, I take my son to school at the crack of dawn, then I have my catnap. Today the stars must not be aligned properly, I am unable to catch up on my sleep. I can see me walking like a zombie and talking like one. The passers by will have a field day making fun of me. Life aint fair yes it aint.

Now I’ll have to answer a barrage of questions why I didn’t show up on my blog. Siblings they can make one’s life miserable. Don’t pray for them, they make your life a living hell. I hope she doesn’t tell me she did not receive the book yet if she does, I’ll say, “it is not my fault, it’s your rotten postal system.”

Where did the hours go, it was only a few minutes ago I took him to school, it’s time to bring him back already? I tell ya life sucks, I cannot remember if I had my breakfast, probably not, why am I hungry?

“Hey bus driver I’m having a bad day today, don’t make me miss the bus too?”

“I’m going to get my son now, with the kind of day I’m having I won’t be surprised if he tells me he needs my help to do his homework.”

“Watch my sister giggling instead of extending her hand to help, she is standing in the corner amused to see me so out of sorts, I’ll get you one day dear sis. but for now I must put my house in order.”

Hear me out folks, my son needs to go to Cambridge for some kind of activity, why Cambridge why not here in Coventry, both words begin with a C,I asked?

‘ You’re ridiculous Dad, are you all right, is something bothering you?’

“Nothing’s bothering me, let’s go home!”

DP Daily Prompt: Our House

pad2014.png (388×120)

Our house oh how I miss it. It was a bungalow. It had stables on one side. There was a separate kitchen on the other side. The front lawn was very long. There were three Eucalyptus trees at the far end of the lawn. We had a gardener who planted a variety of flowers.

He was an artist in my mind. He planted the short  flower plants in the front and the plants were gradually taller as they were farther from the house. I had to pick flowers almost every day because my teacher wanted me to take them for her.

Our gardener was very strict about his plants,he wanted us to be gentle when we picked flowers. Every day after school,he’d catch me and showed exactly where I picked the flowers from.He always threatened he’ll tell my Dad.

We had a long veranda,it was part of the house.

We had a hedge on the side which hid the house from the left where the stables were.

We had two gates ,between the house and the garden we had a long passage which extended from one gate to the next. It was covered with small red stones.

We had twelve rooms in the house. Four were large and eight were small. My parents had one large room. My older sister took possession of one, she claimed she has to have a large one to entertain her friends.

We younger ones were given one bedroom. The fourth large one was our drawing room AKA living room.

There were four bathrooms for us. We always used our parents bathroom, but were caught once by Dad, who warned us to stay away from their bathroom. I was allowed to use the bathroom because my parents always made me do chores. They thought I was the most reliable.

It didn’t smell bad it was okay.

It did sound like there were twelve of us. No it couldn’t sound like a library.

We played outdoors, when we came in we were quiet. All our energy was spent running around outdoors. The only time we were noisy was when we played Monopoly, my eldest brother had the bank beside him . I caught him a few times when he stole the fake money. He was not good at strategy, he had to pay up when he landed on the houses belonging to one of us.

My mother could hear us from the kitchen which was outside. She said I made the most noise so she’d call me  into the kitchen, to bring the noise level down.
