Tagore song edin aji posted and translated by Ranu

I wonder, whose door  was  opened today

Whose success  brought about the sunrise

Whose inauguration filled  the gold pot  with light

And whose blessing  carried  Dawn through the darkness

Forest flowers blossoming,new leaves  swinging

Who helped  them to  string their garlands

After long years of waiting

who received the gift of selection

Whose life full of  sorrows  did this Day end?

365 Writing Prompts: Back to the future

A service has been invented through which you can send messages to people in the future. To whom would you send something, and what would you write?

Realistically speaking I cannot think of sending messages to any one if I’m unable to understand what kind of service will be invented in the future.

It seems so unreal, but if I become an optimist and make myself believe there will be an invention and I will have the opportunity to send messages to people I have met along the way, I certainly would send a message to a young lady I met a while ago.

One winter morning I met a young girl in the shopping center, I don’t know who she was, I was worried how to climb the snow bank to get on the pavement, I almost wanted to turn around to find a spot where the path was clear. I was surprised when she offered to help me, “I will  help  you to get to the pavement”, she said.

To this day my mind wonders who she was, if I can miraculously locate her wherabouts, I will use this service to write a  note to her, the message will read, “thank you for helping me that morning,  you are the reason this world is  a wonderful place to live in.”

five sentence fiction

Lillie McFerrin Writes

It was a bright July morning the flowers in the garden were a pretty sight, the children were playing in the garden, suddenly they heard a loud scream, they went inside the house.

They found their mother crying and the older brother telling the father,”Dad please don’t go.”

The father looked at him,he tried to say something, but couldn’t.

Then it was all over, everyone was quiet, they only heard the mother reading ‘The Holy Book.’

It was the darkest day in their life!

Writing Prompt: Feed Your Senses

Write down the first sight, sound, smell, and sensation you experienced on waking up today.Pick the one you’re most drawn to, and write.( for a bigger challenge write the one you’re least drawn to).

I was awakened by the harsh sound of the alarm at 4 am . I turned to make sure it was really 4 am ,unfortunately it was.  Reluctantly I left my cozy bed went straight to the bathroom ,washed myself and voila I was ready to say my morning prayer. Why so early you may think, this one has to be before sunrise. Where you live the sun may rise later but in my neck of the woods it’s earlier.

My morning prayer takes little over five minutes, but there is a prayer I say for my family members who are no longer with us, then there is my dear friend, and a few other relatives, I also pray for myself. By the time I’m done the clock strikes 4.41 am, still too early for breakfast I tell myself. I go back to bed and sleep some more.

This morning I woke up again before 8 am ,heard Raphael and Gabriel our two favorite kittens wrestling with each other on my way to the kitchen. I used the microwave to cook my breakfast, the sound of this alerted Rafa I was cooking something better than what we gave him and his brother.

He started meowing and running back and forth  to each door to get in ,but we were not going to give in, when his loud noise didn’t make any difference, he resumed his game of snatch and pull with his brother.

I can see the sun is shining brightly which is a rare sight, we do welcome the precious one whenever the clouds decide to let it shine.

Now I have almost finished reading the emails I got.

I’ll publish this prompt and see what else I need to get done before I sit and watch the tennis match!

Writing Prompt: Your Time to Shine

Early Bird, or Night Owl

I am an early bird, I love my night’s sleep too much to stay awake all night. I’m unable to do any kind of work at night, I can’t even watch movies.

Waking up early in the morning is wonderful for me. I get my work done, like cooking, cleaning, writing my posts and occasionally I go shopping for food and other things I need.

During the day I visit my neighbors, wait for mail these are some of the things I won’t be able to do if I slept all day.

Pausharini Vendor( poem) by Tagore Translation by Ranu

Vendor ,O vendor,

morning is spent buying and selling in  markets.

When it’s time to return home

who knows what came to mind

you sat under the shady tree,

all  the saved profit

remained in the basket,

where did your  thoughts take you.

This field,this red dirt,

Jackfruit

Jackfruit (Photo credit: Rennett Stowe)

the  leaves of the jack fruit touched by the sun,

the cold breeze

the trembling  grass

what did they say in your ears!

Far away in the river water

stripes of light glistens,

what spell does it add to your meditation.

From creations first recollection

the first vibration started your blood flow

This is why the tree and  grass

know their heart

the midday of winter__

in earth’s playground

for a long time

you play in the  golden green lawn.

Sitting in the quiet field

your mind’s screen is cast off speedily.

the light and  sky together

seem dancing in the universe

you see in front of you

middle of that huge space

the sound  playing

is humming in your heart.

The speedy calls

have ended in this familiar world.

There is no news anywhere,

no hint of action__

voiceless

sun’s  scorching  heat is felt instantly

a deep sigh comes from  empty space.

Vendor,O vendor,

you forgot for a split second buying and selling.

where’s the market, the wharf,

where’s the home, the road,

the day’s noisy murmur,

brings eternal message

to everyone’s  heart

quiet  indifference and anxiety.

‘Uncle and the Candies’

English: Candies, Covered Market, Barcelona, S...

English: Candies, Covered Market, Barcelona, Spain Italiano: Caramelle, Mercato Coperto, Barcellona, Spagna (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I went for a walk with my Uncle one day.

It was quite far for me I must say.

Close to our house when we came,

he uttered, ‘Ranu  what a shame’.

‘What is it Uncle dear I said’?

‘I meant  to buy some candies for you’.

I said ‘Do you think you can bring me some’?

He promised he will and left that day.

He kept his promise my dear Uncle,

with the candies he came late that night.

The night was long,I was sleeping,

‘these are for Ranu’, he told my brother.

My sibling saw the candies and thought for a moment,

he tried but could not resist the temptation,

ate them all with tremendous speed,

Ignoring all the while  Uncle’s instruction.

Next morning out he came with a smiling face,

full of charm,loaded with grace.

I wanted to know the reason quick,

he confessed his guilt, yes he did,

I was not so generous to forgive his sin.

He stood there laughing , made fun of me.

I ran to my mother to find a solution.

‘Of course there isn’t any’  she said,’what can I do,

those candies really were not meant for you’?
