The Nagging Child

Have you  ever met a nagging child,

Who irritates you by questions wild.

I met such a child on a very sunny day

Who came in  a hurry to say.

‘Miss do you like to bathe in the sun,

It really is wonderful and a lot of fun?’

I felt  agitated and  said:

‘Why don’t  you go sun bathing,

and leave me alone.’

Hearing this she sat down and pouted,

I  knew you aren’t friendly

this I never doubted!

Daily Prompt : Uncompromising

In response to one word prompt  :  Uncompromising

The Indian sub-continent had seen its ups and downs. Under the Moghul Empire they did well. This was not true of the British Empire. They were ruthless and took over the sub-continent with a firm belief it belongs to them and nothing or no one can drive them out.

It took a lifetime for the Indians to gain possession of their country.

It was possible due to the uncompromising  will of the leaders, who never gave up!

Daily Prompt : Elastic

In response to one-word prompt : Elastic

Our feline Sophie can stretch her neck like elastic,

Whenever I give her new food she thinks it’s plastic.

Elastic or plastic her movement tells me she’s doubtful,

She looks at me and seems to say, ‘I’m unhappy and regretful.

Never give me food that makes me less than cheerful.’

I look at her and say, ‘my pretty little feline,

If you must know it’s the best food in the market,

if you do not eat it your health will decline.

My words and her meow keeps getting louder,

Sophie  walks and stretches her neck longer.

I’m glad she controls her neck from breaking,

I tell her, ‘don’t stretch it, if you don’t want it aching!’

Daily Prompt : Launch

In response to one-word prompt :  Launch

Before the launch of an election,

The parties who are in contention.

Promise the world to the naïve voters,

If elected they’d smooth all our problems.

We believe each word they say,

Off to the  booths we go to vote that  day.

We trust them because  they seem honest,

Days later we realize in disgust.

They broke all the promises they made,

We make an oath to see them fade.

But Politics is a weird game,

Those who believe are now ashamed !

Daily Prompt : Finite

In response to one-word prompt : Finite

Most people in the world have Finite income,

Why this is so I’m unable to fathom.

We must spend wisely, my mom always said,

Even a king can go broke if he’s not careful,

This example of a king left me bewildered ,

Isn’t there someone who has inexhaustible wealth?

Those who have countless money are very few,

There’s no use   thinking of them they won’t share,

So let’s live our restricted lives with care!

I fear when I hear a patient’s condition is Critical,

The word critical sends a negative tone,

It scares me so much  I feel I’m alone!

Daily Prompt : Visceral

In response to one-word prompt : Visceral

I’ll tell you a story of our two felines,

I think they are better than canines.

Raphael says our friend, ‘he is Visceral,

But Gabriel he says,  ‘I think is Cerebral.’

We wanted to see, how far it’s true,

We must watch them to get a clue.

One day I showed Raphael how to open a door,

Next day he showed me it’s not a chore.

Opening doors was his favorite pastime,

He opened kitchen door during lunchtime.

It was so bad we changed the doorknob,

To open the new knobs was a hard job.

While we know Raphael is a  natural,

We’d like to know which one is Visceral!

Daily Prompt : Lust

In response to one-word prompt : Lust

History proves, lust for power is the cause of downfall of humans. Some humans fall due to their insatiable greed for money, more they have, more they want. It makes humans lose their conscience, they accumulate money by stealing, making deals with crooks, in the end trap themselves in a dire situation.

I remember reading about Mahmud of  Ghazni, who loved money, it’s obvious he amassed it by unfair means, it’s alleged by historians that in his deathbed he requested the people around him to show him all his money, when they did so, he cried because he couldn’t take it with him.

This proves money is not everything, it’s not the gateway to heaven more than likely it’s the gateway to hell, if the person got this money by deceiving, lying and cheating innocent people.

I am sure this craving for power and money is an addiction, it gives no peace to the one who has it and makes other people around him, concerned because his behavior is so unpredictable.
