Daily Prompt: Practice makes Perfect

Tell us about a talent you’d love to have ….. but don’t.

I’d like to be an expert in sewing. I have the right tools,e.g  my sewing machine , spools of thread, fabrics of all varieties, needles, you name it I’ve got it. I even have time and lots of it. What’s keeping me from becoming a seamstress is the lack of a room to get started.

I have plenty of space in my house but is occupied by my kid who hasn’t find time yet to clean up one of those rooms, that she can easily clean and let me set up my paraphernalia of sewing tools.

Life is tough you want to earnestly do something, but there is always one thing that gets in the way of my creativity. I sit and wait and hope one day it will all come together and I’ll be on my way to happy sewing. Till that day comes I will imagine all the cool stuff that I will make and have people come around and see my masterpieces and be in complete awe of my heavenly creation. Sounds something like the milkmaid story, “building castles in the air” doesn’t it? 😦

Writing Prompt: Stranger

Have you ever had a random encounter or fleeting moment with a stranger that stuck with you?

One year I had to go to Chicago to see my brother-in-law and his wife. They had a baby, my husband couldn’t go due to his back. He was in pain 24/7, so he thought we were obligated to see the little infant, since he was unable to go, I’d have to go. I won’t mention about the reception I got this is irrelevant here.

I boarded the plane with my two little ones in the wee hours of the morning. I had to carry their paraphernalia with me, to keep them under control. I reached Montreal safe and sound with my young family. At the airport runway for some reason we had to take a shuttle to go to the airport lounge. We were waiting to get the shuttle, in my mind I was thinking how was I going to carry the bags and hold on to my kids at the same time.

A lady behind called out and said, “I see you need help , let me take one of your kids to help you go on board.”

I was sure I was getting Divine help, I was so thankful to the lady, I couldn’t think of enough words to express how grateful I was.

We reached Chicago at 10 pm. my kids were fast asleep on the plane. When the plane landed and we were ready to get off, I heard another voice behind me, this time it was a gentleman, “Excuse me ma’am, your kids are sleeping, how will you carry them out,let me help you?”

Was this another voice from up above, I thought? I was delighted to take his offer of help, he carried my younger one and my older one woke up, I held her hand and carried the bags with me.

I thanked the gentleman and walked over to see my brother-in-law who came to pick me up. He had a very stupid question which I can’t help but write, “Who was this man?”

“A nice gentleman I said who offered to help me.”
