365 Days: I pledge Allegiance

Before I write what being patriotic means to me. I’d like to present the poem by Sir Walter Scott

Breathes there the man with soul so dead,

Who never to himself hath said,

‘This is my own my native land!’

Whose heart hath ne’er within him burn’d

As home his footsteps he hath turn’d

From wandering on a foreign land?

If such there breathe, go, mark him well;

For him no Minstrel raptures swell;

High though his titles, proud his name,

Boundless his wealth as wish can claim;

Despite those titles, power, and pelf,

The wretch concentrated all in self,

Living shall forfeit fair renown,

And, double dying, shall go down

To the vile dust from whence he sprung,

Unwept, unhonour’d, and unsung.

………………………….

Now the answer to the question: Am I patriotic? Yes I am.

To me patriotic means, I should be loyal to my country.

I must love my country and have the desire for my nation to succeed. I should show my love by flying my country’s flag.

In any debate regarding my country, I should listen to both parties, instead of picking one and ignore the other.

In any election federal or provincial, I must vote for the one which shows more promise of helping my country prosper.

Leaders in any election try to convince the voters they’re the best and should be elected. We as voters have to exercise our right to vote wisely. We must vote for the party that is not corrupt, it is our patriotic duty to use our right to get rid of a corrupt party which will ruin our country.

365 Writing Prompts: I pledge allegiance

Are you patriotic? What does being patriotic mean to you?

The standard dictionary definition reads,”love for one’s country.”

Stephen Nathanson (1993, 34-35) defines patriotism as involving:

1. Special affection for one’s country.

2. A sense of personal identification with the country.

3. Special concern for the well-being of the country.

4. Willingness to sacrifice to promote the country’s good.

Many think of patriotism as a natural and appropriate expression of attachment to the country in which we were born and raised and of gratitude for the benefits of life on its soil, among its people, and under its laws. They also consider patriotism an important component of our identity.

If someone asks the question,”Are you Patriotic?”

My answer is yes, how do I know I am patriotic, because I feel proud of my country, I am proud to be one of its citizens.

I am sad if my country loses in any competitive games held in the world. I pray for my country to thrive in everything. I’m concerned about its welfare. I am unhappy if someone passes negative comments about my country.

I love living in my country, I have a special affection for it!

DP Daily Prompt: I Pledge Allegiance Post By Ranu

I consider myself a patriot. I love my country,I am prepared to work to help my country. To me patriotism means sacrifice.One should try his or her best to defend his/her country when the need arises. I always remember what the American, Nathan Hale said before he was hanged for spying,” I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country.” This is what patriotism means to me.
