365 Writing Prompt: The glass?

The glass half -full or half-empty?

An optimist sees the glass half-full, while the pessimist sees it as half empty. It is a person’s view on life. An optimist looks for good in any situation and finds a way to keep a positive attitude.

A pessimist finds fault in everything, such as why is my glass half empty while Richard has a  full glass. In this scenario an optimist will think, may be there was only enough water in the jug to fill half the glass, it isn’t done on purpose.

We all have songs that remind us of specific periods and events in our lives. Twenty years from now, which song will remind you of the summer of 2014.

Life is precious and whether we’re having a good time or completely opposite, we try to hold on to it hoping tomorrow the sun will shine, with these thoughts in mind I feel I cannot count on twenty years later. It does not make me a pessimist when I say that but a realist.

I will attempt to write about the life I had as a young kid. I was very fond of songs, poetry, and music. I sat in the corner of my house each day and sang the songs I learned in school.

One of the songs I loved was:

Oh give me a home where the buffaloes roam and the deer and the antelopes play

Where never is heard a discouraging word and the sky is not cloudy all day

a home on the range where the deer and the antelopes play!

The modern songs cannot match this beautiful song and its lyrics are so meaningful.

From where I am now I’d rather appreciate the songs of long ago.I leave you with this song which is my favorite :

My mind to me a kingdom is such perfect joy therein I find.

DP Daily Prompt: The Glass Post by Ranu

Is the glass half empty or half full? The pess...

Is the glass half empty or half full? The pessimist would pick half empty, while the optimist would choose half full. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Is the glass half -full  or half-empty: I’ve heard this expression countless times. I have read so many different idioms, which immediately brings a picture in my mind, what is it trying to tell me.This one however is slightly tricky. Here I instantly think of two individuals asking each other the question ,is it half- full or half-empty. Each one is trying to find  out where  they fit in this category.

I would like to say I’m an optimist, so to me it is half-full.I don’t go into the detail, why it is half-full. Is it because the city shut-off the water supply, only half of the glass could be filled or someone came and drank half of it.There are so many different ways of looking at it. To a pessimist it is half-empty, therefore he or she sees it as a premonition, they would believe something terrible is about to happen.

My Mom was always an optimist and she taught us to see things positively. She frequently told me it’s God’s will, whatever He does is for our benefit. We should not complain. He is taking a test,He wants to know our belief in Him. There were occasions when I only wanted half a glass of water,to me I view it as, I shouldn’t waste it if I only need part of it to quench my thirst.

My other relatives probably will question why the glass is not full. There are all kinds of examples of half-full and half-empty. What amuses me, it’s the same glass with the  same quantity of water. A critic,an optimist and a pessimist will look at this same glass of water differently. This is the beauty of a human mind we all view things differently.
