In response to word prompt : Present
I begin with this famous verse from an unknown poet:
The present only is our own,
Live, love, toil with a will.
Place no faith in “tomorrow” -for
The clock may then be still!
These are such meaningful words, but I wonder how many of us remember it every day.
Here is what I think I must do:
Give a present to ones who, make me happy,
I must not delay it for sometime in the future,
Live in the present, for tomorrow may not come!
What’s the best present you’ve ever received that was handmade by the giver, not store- bought?Tell us what made it so special.
I think it was a year-end gift given to me by one of my students’. She made a doll by hand, the top face head neck, she bought, rest of the things she made by hand, the dress was sewed carefully , on the front there is a sash, where she printed, ‘World’s Best Teacher.’ Those three words made me proud to know there is at least one person who thinks I am the world’s best teacher. Coming from a nine year old girl it is the best compliment I got. I have displayed it in my hutch in the dining room.
If there is a book published entitled, “This is your Life”, I’ll be curious to read a book about me. The most important thing is,I didn’t write it. I’d have to find out who the author is. How does this person know me. Is he an astrologer, who in my family gave my name? A person can only tell my past, present and future,if someone who knows me, gave my name, year of birth, name of my parents. These are some basic things one must know to write about me. Also if the person has seen me or talked to me.
I will read the book to find out if the facts about my past and present are true. I will choose to read it then. But there is one problem,if this person knows someone in my family, has the information from that person,it is possible. If I’m unaware of this. I will read the book from cover to cover to satisfy my curiosity. Whether I will believe the future predictions depends on what is written.
This is how I feel about this marvelous book .
