How important are clothes to you? Describe your style,if you have one, and tell us how appearance impacts how you feel about yourself.

There was a time in my early childhood I did not care much about what I wore, I was contented to wear anything as long as it was okay to go out and play.

As I grew older my outlook changed. I was concerned about my clothes, “was it presentable to go out visiting my parents friends’  homes for dinner,” I’d ask myself.

In the university I did not want to look shabby among other students, I had special clothes to wear for that kind of environment.

My work clothes were different, I always wore a different set of clothes every day, it probably made my kids curious about my clothes. I remember one of them asked, “Miss how many of these do you have?”

I was amazed they noticed, “Why do you ask?” I said.

“You wear a different one every day.”  The kid replied.

Sometimes wearing casual clothes has its disadvantages, even if you go shopping, the sales lady will look at you once and decide almost instantly, “she’s not going to buy anything, I do not want to waste my time with her.”

I have my own set of clothes for different occasions.

DP Daily Prompts: In Due Time

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

What’s your next, most pressing deadline? Are you stressed, excited or ambivalent about it? What’s the first thing you’d like to do once you’re done with it?

I cannot write how long I’ve had this deadline, i.e, clearing out my basement, every year I make up my mind to do it, something or someone gets in my way and I’m left with the same problem of a basement that’s crying out loud,”when will you have time to make me look presentable?”

Perhaps I’ll never find the kind of time when I’d want to clear it.

Winter is upon us and clearing involves taking out things out of this area, the city will start taking the trash or unwanted rubbish only in Spring, I have to wait till my turn comes to put all the things I cannot use on my lawn at the back.

In the mean time I will make up a list of things that are in the basement, which need to vacate the area they’re occupying.

I’m eagerly waiting for Spring to carry out my plan to make my basement squeaky clean. Some might say they doubt it will ever happen, but I have faith which alone will help me.

What’s the first thing I’ll do once I’m done with it, I’m sure going to have a day of prayer, thank God Almighty for giving me the strength to complete this arduous task. I’ll let my feline roll on the floor which is his greatest desire, he did not get the chance yet, he cries every day because we do not let him go to a place full of mess.

The last thing which is the fun part, I’ll have some decent furniture, arrange them and have a party with friends and neighbors.

I hope it does not turn out like the milkmaid story of building castles in the air!
