DP Daily Prompt: Singing the Blues

We all feel down from time to time. How do you combat the blues? What’s one tip you can share with others that always helps to lift your spirits?

Lately I’m feeling blue about the weather, which continues to bother me. Our winter started I’d say from late November. Almost every day it snows, if there is one good day there’ll be several stormy days. I fear about losing power, which means everything will be at a standstill, to me no power means, no internet,no warm food, no bath, no heat nothing. I picture myself counting the hours and wondering when power will be restored.

Right now we are having a windstorm why Nature is so angry I cannot tell. Yes we are responsible, we have too many vehicles on the road polluting our skies, earth and what have you.

We have garbage thrown everywhere polluting the town or city we live in. We fail to realize we are the reason our weather has changed. One positive thing that came out of this is we are learning to recycle, which could have started a while ago,but it’s a good beginning.

When I am sad I listen to my favorite songs, I read my favorite book,I talk to my kittens, who probably wonder , “What’s wrong with her, she is too nice today?” Then there is the piano I play for a few seconds and stop because the last time I played was a long time ago,I seem to have forgotten a lot of it. My best way of lifting my spirits is to get my cook books and read the delicious recipes in there, I start my preparation, soon enough I forget what bothered me in the first place.

My one tip for someone who is having a bad day, would be to advise them to open a dessert cook book and read the recipes, pretend they are going to create that wonderful cheesecake they think about from time to time and imagine eating a slice of that wonderful creation and say to themselves, “Who says I am not a good cook, look what I have created,it’s delicious!”

Writing Prompt: Through the Window https://sabethville.wordpress.com/2014/01/29/365-days-jan 29th -through the window/

I went to the nearest window. These are the things I saw. Two houses, one is white with grey roof, the other one is also white with black roof.

I can see garbage on the end of their driveway, recycle and waste. Those to be recycled are in blue bags, others are in black plastic bags.

Oh right across my house there is a grey Subaru parked in their driveway.

There is some snow on the lawns.

When I was almost finished counting sixty seconds, the green garbage truck stopped in front of my neighbor’s driveway to pick up the garbage.

This is all I saw. My street is relatively quiet in the morning. Everyone already left for work or school.

DP Daily Prompt: 21st century citizen Post by Ranu

Do I belong in this day and age? I don’t know. I am here in this age. It’s all the luck of the draw. Do I like it? There are some things I like and others I don’t know.

Every age has its advantages and disadvantages. I am happy to be in the present age. The other day I saw a car,it has features I didn’t see.I think it’s awesome. The car knows how to slow down, when the driver in front suddenly changes his/her mind. Backing out of the driveway or anywhere else is easier.

The food labels help us to know what we are consuming, the calorie count, how much sugar, salt are in there. So people who are concerned can be careful.

Recycling, taking care of the planet are in full swing,it was there before, but people were not so conscientious. Although the hole that exists, probably cannot be fixed,we know enough not to cause further damage.

Technology has improved so much,it is hard to keep up. Along with technology, there is a high risk for identity theft, which is a concern.

We will perhaps never have a perfect age, then all we can do is enjoy however long we are supposed to be here. I quote from a famous American,”You are here for a short time, stop and smell the roses”.
