Bengali Song, singer Srikanto: Posted and translated by ranu

Do not turn on the lights oh sky

Do not open your eyes oh wind

My beloved might be shy

She may  come close and leave

It’s time for her

To give me the garland.

This time she will

Try her best to sing to me.

Waterfall, do not imitate the

same tune when you trickle down!

Do not turn on the lights oh sky,

Oh tree of red flowers,

Do not look back.

Oh Cuckoo do not sing,

My sensitive beloved,

Might be bashful.

Her words may freeze,

In her mouth.

She has a lot of timid,

Hopes in her heart.

For heaven’s sake,

oh dear scented flower

Do not disturb the rhythm

Of her song by releasing your scent!

Tagore song:Tumi khushi thako posted and translated by Ranu

Watch me and be happy

When I sing and wander around in your

courtyard, I feel your touch in my

musical voice

the joy  and the rhythm

spreads in  the whole world

my mind hears

the humming sound.

I like your darkness and your light

My smile wanders around

and carries your laughter with it!

tagore song tumi je shurer agun you have touched the fire of music by Tagore translated and post by ranu

You have touched the fire of music

in my heart.

This fire is spread everywhere.

It is dancing between those

dead tree branches.

Who is it pointing  to in the sky.

In the dark  the stars are watching

with surprise.

From where is the crazy

wind blowing?

At midnight a flower

blossomed

O it is a gold waterlily.

Who knows how much

power the fire has!

The wind blows at troubled speed,

the sky is overcast,

the peacock calls.

I did not work,  did not change,

the day is over, my hair untied___

I read your words.

O my poet tho,

I have never known you,

still your message embeds

a hidden image in my mind.

Your words render cloud and shadow

in a melancholic tune,

that brings tears to my eyes.

My heart yearns to understand you.

When and where you wake,

whose absence distresses you__

who is your beloved!

You are Indra, your wife is Indrani

You have painted a picture of her

with your affection.

O my dear poet ,

although the rhythm beats in my heart

I am lifeless,  a statue

I know not why I feel this way.

The woman is forever beloved

your songs praise her__

without reason your heart is elated.

Even if I had not heard her name,

nor seen her once

there is no loss in that!

If one knows not your sweetheart

one knows her by your song.

O my dear poet,

the spring is far-off

yet the blood dances in my veins.

The one you know appears

in this strange place,

as I stand among these strangers.

Your garland came around my neck.

the flowers wet with rain…

On some rainy evening your beloved’s

braid wrapped round you

the scent like a dream.

And in my heart, past lives converge.

O my poet,

know you not the soft melody

in my arbour of creepers–

You sang a song of sadness

of things that occurred long ago…

Your brooding melody

flowing into a marvel of its own.

Perfume wants to mix with scent,

scent wants to latch on to perfume.

The musical note wants to surrender itself to rhythm,

rhythm wants to travel hurriedly to musical note.

Feeling wants to appear as part of beauty,

beauty wants to stay away from feeling.

Infinite wants a close relationship with limit,

limit wants to lose itself in infinite.

Upheaval in creation who knows  whose idea it is,

the continuous movement from feeling to beauty__

the confined are looking for freedom,

freedom is praying for confinement in the home.

Birth And Death by Tagore Translation by Ranu

Birth And Death            Rabindranath Tagore

It was only the other day I came to this world   I was an infant devoid of speech

I came like a foreigner to this earth

without any identity, I did not bring anything with me,

Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath Tagore (Photo credit: Cea.)

only provision I had with me was sobbing.

Today   all the  love  I received from my fellow human beings

has managed to draw out all the songs I have in my heart,

On this earth O my creator you have taken very little space in my heart!

Instead you have fulfilled the wishes of the people with my songs.

Every day you assist me to present songs of rhythm and melody

still I offer you my worship  at the end of the prayer

I hope you will take me with love,

I am hopeful that you will remember when we part.

wherever you keep me on this earth your love will remain with me.

There will be brand new foreign residence  new people

they   will connect with  me with similar love. In the light of this love

I will appear in the world

and blossom in the new company. Attracted by love

all the mysterious glitter I have in me

will rise up in eternal juice,

they will come out running___  free from life

in the entire world of yours on the invitation of love

I will leave the perfume of new lives,

I will draw the shape of faces with new colours.

who wants to be in this blind  narrow hole of immortality

on this surface of the earth only in one form

to live!  In the new paths of death

I will  worship you in different worlds.
