#Everyday Inspiration, Day Twenty: Wrap It Up

Day Twenty: Wrap It Up

I liked #Everyday Inspiration, Day Seven: Let Social Media Inspire You.

I enjoyed writing the day seven prompt, let social media inspire you. I used a quote by Epicurus, “Nothing is enough for the man to whom enough is too little.”

While writing the above, I wished I could use another quote to write. I got my opportunity.

Today I wish to use Plato’s wisdom to write.

“Excellence is not a gift but a skill that takes practice. We don’t act rightly because we are excellent. In fact we achieve excellence by acting rightly.” -Plato

I started watching the game of Tennis, several years ago. I’d say we were forced to watch it because our TV channel was showing tennis, we had another channel, which showed something, we did not like it so we picked tennis. It was difficult for us because the words they used was outside our vocabulary.

Slowly we were learning and came to a point when we loved it. I Knew the names of the players, their coaches. We looked forward to watching the grand slams, which were played by the top ranked players. Among them I noticed one named Roger Federer, he was young and showed skills that only comes from days, months, years of practice. It didn’t take him long to become one of the best.

Today, he’s not as fast as before. But he is good enough to be ranked number four. He won twenty grand slam titles and over a hundred titles in tennis.

He achieved all this because of his dedication to the game he loves so much.

Kudos to you Roger Federer!

When was the last time you felt truly Rejuvenated and energized? What made you feel that way?

I was truly rejuvenated and energized when I read the news on the internet  early this morning, that “Roger Federer” won the fourth round tennis match last evening.

It is the US grand slam tennis championship, he was playing against John Isner an American, who it is believed can blow anyone off court with his wicked serve.

I am ecstatic Roger won because the commentators favored John. Way to go Roger!

Daily Prompt: Grand Slam

pad2015-s1.png (308Ă—60)

In your own life, what would be the equivalent of a walk-off-home-run?( For the baseball-averse, that’s a last minute, back-against-the wall play that guarantees a dramatic victory.)

I love watching some competitive sports such as tennis and figure skating, these are my favorite I can spend a long time watching them.

Past two weeks there was a grand slam tennis championship for men and women held in Wimbledon, England. I have a habit of picking my  favorite players  and I root for them. Otherwise I don’t enjoy watching the match.

My female favorite player was a twenty-one year old from Spain. I was thrilled when she reached the final. Unfortunately she had to play against Serena Williams in the final. The outcome was Serena won and Garbine Muguruza the Spanish player lost. Which meant my player lost I was disappointed and thought next time she will do better.

The men’s finalists were Roger Federer from Switzerland and Novak Djokovic from Serbia. My favorite was Roger,I was sure he’d win but he made some crucial unforced errors at the wrong time and lost the match in four sets.

This was my experience of watching a grand slam tennis championship.

Blogging 101: Week end post

This is a post about my favorite sport, “tennis, ”  this was an anxious week -end for me and my daughter. Sunday was the day the final men’s  tennis match was played in Wimbledon, London,England. The players who reached the final was Novak Djokovic from Serbia and Roger Federer from Switzerland.

Each player had won the famous trophy more than once. Novak was going for his third trophy and Roger for his eighth . Both are excellent players and anyone of them were capable of winning the match.

This time I decided to watch the match regardless of who wins. The first few games were pretty even, after each scored six games there was a tie-break, Roger made some unusual errors which cost him the set.

The second set was equally competitive they tied at six games all, the tie break followed and Roger won the second set. I was happy I thought Roger had a chance to win.

There was a rain delay of twenty-five minutes, when they came back Roger did not seem himself he made too many unforced errors which cost him the second set followed by the third and eventually the match, I was disappointed, consoled myself by thinking Roger would do well in the next tournament.

365 Writing Prompts: Fandom

Are you a sports fan?Tell us about fandom. If  you’re not ,tell us why not?

You can consider me a sports fan. My number one sports is tennis, I like watching hockey once in a while if it’s a Canadian team playing an European team such as world hockey.

I loved watching the Boston Bruins ice hockey team. I don’t get to see too many of their games, their playing schedule is not convenient for me. Most of their games start at 8 PM eastern which is 9:30 PM where I live. I can only watch one period and then it’s bedtime for me. If I go to bed after one period, the thought lingers in my mind, I wonder who is winning which keeps me awake. This is why I’d rather find out in the scores in the  morning.

However tennis matches are televised during the day, which gives me a chance to watch them. I am a big fan of tennis and among males my favorite is Roger Federer and female Maria Sharapova from Russia and also Garbine Muguruza from Spain. These players are very interesting to watch and they are also very good players. When there is a match on TV when either of them is playing, I sit in front of TV and watch until it’s over.

I watched some live tennis matches in Montreal, it is a lot of fun watching with the spectators.

Another sport I am fond of is figure skating. I watch mainly on TV, I still enjoy it. I know it would be lot more fun watching it live, but it’s not possible. 🙂

Daily Prompt: Linger

pad2015-s1.png (308Ă—60)

Tell us about times in which you linger — when you don’t want an event ,or a day to end. What is it you love about these times? Why do you wish you could linger forever?

Our human mind is strange, we usually are not excited to linger. But then we go about face and change our mind we want certain things to linger forever. What could be the reason for this change. If I were to guess I’d say it has something to do with how much enjoyment we get out of certain events.

I once watched a championship tennis match between two awesome players , Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, the former is from Switzerland and the latter from Spain. Roger always fares well on grass and Rafael on Red Clay.

Roger was the defending champion and Rafael the opponent tried to unseat the defending champion the venue was the lawn tennis in Wimbledon, England  .

They were playing unbelievable tennis shot for shot, we were watching on TV, I however never enjoy watching any kind of sports unless I choose a favorite.

Roger was and still is my favorite tennis player. It was a tense situation, I couldn’t enjoy it that much because I was afraid Roger might not be able to defend his title. Rafael was unbelievable.

The last set was a tiebreak, both had championship point, at one time or other, between the two I  wondered  who wanted it most,no one was ready to give up.

Finally Roger Federer was able to retain his championship point and won the match. after the match I felt happy Roger won but felt a little sad for Rafael. This was one match I could watch forever!

365 Writing Prompts: Everything Changes

Walking down the street, you encounter a folded piece of paper on the sidewalk. You pick it up and read it and immediately, your life has changed. Describe this experience.

It was a summer morning, the weatherman predicted another hot and humid day, I was trying to think if I should go for a walk while it was cool or wait till late evening, my neighbor raised her hand from the other side of the street to see her.

I was about to cross the street when the wind blew a folded piece of paper on my feet, irritated I picked it up and noticed there was a message inside. I was torn, do I read what’s inside or dump it in the trash can? Knowing I’d always wonder what was inside I unfolded it and started reading it.

Wow I exclaimed I am invited to attend a party hosted by my favorite tennis player, Roger Federer , I was advised to pick up a package along with instructions from the nearby sports store.

I yelled out to my neighbor Gail, ” I’ll catch up with you later, I have to take care of something.”

I took the bus to the sports store and asked the salesman for the package waiting for me. The salesman was a very agreeable man, he handed me the package and stated, “have an enjoyable trip.”

I was stunned , “enjoyable trip” I mumbled , where am I going?

“You’ll see,” he said, he then  turned around to take care of a customer waiting for him.

Meanwhile I headed home, I must open this when I get home, I told myself.  Upon arriving home  I found Raphael and Gabriel  were  waiting for me, they were hungry and wanted food ASAP. I gave them their food and came to my bedroom. I was anxious to open the package. I slowly opened it and found tickets to fly to Zurich, next morning.

I packed my bag and left instructions for my neighbor to take care of the kittens while I was away with my house keys in her mailbox.

Early morning I boarded the flight to Toronto , from where I was to change to another flight to Zurich. I arrived at Zurich early afternoon. The flight attendant told me I would be received by Mr. and Mrs. Federer at the airport.

When the door of the aircraft opened, the flight attendant addressed me she asked me to go to the airport lounge and wait. I didn’t have to wait too long, I noticed some people were coming towards me, when they came closer I saw Mr. And Mrs. Federer with their children.

One of their daughters handed me a huge chocolate bar it was a gift to me from the kids. I was overwhelmed with the attention I got. There was more they invited me to accompany them to their home.

Their home was something that looked like one from the fairy tale. I was exhausted Mrs. Federer showed me the room where I’d take rest for a few hours.

Next day Federer had a tennis match against Stan Wawrinka another Swiss player. I was delighted I’d be able to watch both in action. The result was as I hoped, Federer won, we all wanted to celebrate his victory. Mirka Federer’s wife took us to a posh restaurant where we had a lavish dinner. The children were well-behaved they did not have any temper tantrums, Mrs. Federer I assumed trained them well for this day.

The week went fast they took me to all the important places in the city. I had a marvelous time. The week went faster than I wanted it too.

It was time for me to leave, they gave me a lot of gifts and also some cute toys for our kittens.

When I landed back in my city, I found my neighbor waiting for me. She wanted to know about my unbelievable trip!
