You’re in a room with your greatest fear. Describe what’s in the room.

It’s a medium sized room, I cannot see any windows. I’ve never known, seen or heard of a room without windows.

I was led by an intriguing voice into this room, the moment I  entered, the door locked as if by magic. I was terrified to catch sight of an over-sized statue of Buddha. I looked around I was surrounded by little statues of devotees posed in a way it looked as if  they were offering something to the Buddha.

I wasn’t sure why they were there, and who put them there. Could it be these were stolen by some burglar, who chanced to break open the doors of a museum and collected everything he saw and decorated this room which obviously belongs to him.

What I  do not understand  is,why I’m here? Last time I checked my mind, it did not tell me, that I was a disciple of Buddha, it makes no sense  for me to be in a windowless room.

I’m not sure how long I was there I felt everything in the room was moving including the statues. They were coming closer, suddenly the giant-sized Buddha let out an earth shattering laughter, I let out a scream and fainted.

Next thing I felt was my husband shaking me,”What’s wrong?” He said.

“It’s the Buddha, take me out of here, I can’t breathe, he is coming close, I think he’ll strangle me!” I said.

My husband had a good laugh over this nightmare I had, he told everyone how loud I was  and how comical I looked.

All I said was, “You know what, it’s not funny!”

Daily Prompt: Practice makes Perfect

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

Tell us about a talent you’d love to have ….. but don’t.

I’d like to be an expert in sewing. I have the right tools,e.g  my sewing machine , spools of thread, fabrics of all varieties, needles, you name it I’ve got it. I even have time and lots of it. What’s keeping me from becoming a seamstress is the lack of a room to get started.

I have plenty of space in my house but is occupied by my kid who hasn’t find time yet to clean up one of those rooms, that she can easily clean and let me set up my paraphernalia of sewing tools.

Life is tough you want to earnestly do something, but there is always one thing that gets in the way of my creativity. I sit and wait and hope one day it will all come together and I’ll be on my way to happy sewing. Till that day comes I will imagine all the cool stuff that I will make and have people come around and see my masterpieces and be in complete awe of my heavenly creation. Sounds something like the milkmaid story, “building castles in the air” doesn’t it? 😦

Daily Prompt: Clean Slate

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

Explore the room you’re in as if you’re seeing it for the first time.Pretend you know nothing. What do you see? Who is the person who lives there?

I am entering this room for the first time. Let me there is a queen size bed, a desk , some books arranged in order. There are two chairs, there is a table with a laptop computer. This must be the place where the inhabitant sits and uses his/her computer.

On one of the walls I see a family portrait and single portraits of Mom on one side and Dad on the other.Opposite wall has another family portrait on the wall. there is small stand with a TV on it.

In one corner is the ensuite room, oh this is where the bathroom is located.

There are two large windows facing East.

There are two dressers opposite each other, they are fairly large. I think this is where their clothes are. I see two closets too, why do they need so many places to store their clothes. I think they should donate some of them, it may be of help for some people?

Oh I  forgot the floor is wooden, I like this kind of floors it’s easier to clean. There is a small porch outside this room with another closet on its side.

WOW I loved exploring this room, I hear footsteps I better run along fast before the resident sees me. I really had to get out fast, my heart is palpitating I need to sit down, there I see a tree stump, I will sit there and breathe easy, now I’m sitting on the stump and feeling great! 🙂

DP Daily Prompt: Golden Key

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

You’ve been given a key that can open one building, room, locker, or box to which you don’t normally have access. How do you use it, and why?

‘Golden Key’ Wow! There are quite a few to choose from,  building sounds more fascinating than room, locker,or box.

I think I’ll use my key to open the building, it has so many possibilities, there might be some Ogre hiding there or a sleeping princess or a room full of gold and precious jewels.

Human mind is strange of all the things before me why did I choose a building, perhaps the word building means larger than the other alternatives.

I took my key and went straight to the building, when I opened there was a hush,I took two small steps and prayed, “Please God, I know I’ve made a mistake let me get out of here safely.”

“You want to get out safely?” Someone hollered.

“Please do not hurt me I cried, I do not want anything I want to go back to my house.”

“What if I tell you there is no way out of this building once you are in,” the invisible man shouted.

Fear made me sweat, I cried, “Take my key, please let me go, I promise I’ll never come here again.”

Suddenly I found someone’s arms around me, it was my daughter trying to wake me up, Mom she said, “you had a nightmare wake up!”

“Where is the key I asked?”

“What! There is no key I told you, you had a nightmare!

365 Writing Prompts: Procrastination

What have you been putting off doing? Why?

I bought some fabric to stitch a blouse and a petticoat to match my sari. I bought it in November or December, one of these months. When I got the fabric I thought I’d stitch it right away, but circumstances are beyond my control, therefore I still have it folded in my closet.

My daughter was supposed to clear out one of the rooms upstairs, I wanted to convert it into a sewing room, it has not  happened yet. I don’t want to use the kitchen.

I’m still waiting for my daughter to clear the room, I think I’d have to remind her again that I need it. She can easily get a  medal for procrastinating, no one can compete with her.

Today she ran ten kilometers  I couldn’t ask her to make the room available for me, she told me she was very tired.

If I did something like this when I was younger my mother would have told me once if it was not done, she’d clear it herself. Why don’t I follow my mother’s example, well things have changed, I’m not at liberty to do so.

Maybe I’d write another post when the room is vacant for me to put my sewing stuff there and start sewing, I’m hoping to get my stitching done before 2015.

Writing Prompt: Writing Room

I do not have a writing room. I use my bedroom to write and read.

When the good Genie approved my desire to have a room, which I can use only for reading and writing I was very happy. My room is all set for me to use. Oh I’m sorry you want to know what it looks like.

Here is the description of my amazing room. It is shaped like a square. There is a large window on each wall. I get plenty of light from the windows. The walls are painted beige. It doesn’t have curtains. It has blinds.

My writing desk occupies one wall. It’s an attractive mahogany desk. there are drawers on two sides,to put my writing books and pens. I have a calendar on the right side.

The next wall has a bookshelf. I have arranged the books in alphabetical order. I have filled the shelf with my books. I might run out of space if I buy more books. I have a clock on this wall. It saves me time, rather than look at my wrist watch, every few seconds. The wall clock has a chimer,it chimes every half hour. It gives me enough time to get ready for the next task.

The third wall has a comfortable recliner. I use it to relax and check my mail if there is any. Also when I am tired of writing, I pick up my favorite book to read.

My fourth wall is not used up yet. I might put something or leave it empty.

The above is a description of my Genie room.

365 days Jan.13,2014-cleanslate

I fail to understand why I am shoved in this room. Let me see what is here. There is a bed. It’s a queen size bed. There is a desk on one side. There are a lot of books on it. There is a chair, it is misplaced. It belongs somewhere else. There is a large size dresser with mirror and some drawers. There is another cupboard type of thing . I have to find the right name for it.

Oh there are some grand portraits of the family. Mom and Dad are great looking ,so are the kids.

Here is a bathroom too. Wow ,pretty good I think. This is a nice looking family. I think I’d have a wonderful time here.

Not much else I see. So bye folks. I need  some time to relax!
