365 Writing Prompts: Cleaning house

Is there “junk” in your life? How do you get rid of it?

When I look at the stuff we collected over the years I wonder, how will I get rid of it. It is not easy, but it has to be done. I have taken care of some, but there is much more left that needs to leave the cozy comfort of my house to somewhere which might be appreciated.

I had a burgundy velvet sofa set, I liked it a lot but thought it was in my house long enough, it was time for it to find a new home.I called the city, paid for the service and had it out in my lawn, the passers by, questioned whether I was really throwing it out, one motorist said, “Why it’s in such a good shape?”

I ignored what he had to say, left it out in  the yard, one guy in a pick up truck showed up thirty minutes later, loaded his truck and drove away.

This is how the furniture was taken care of, there are other things that I need to say good-bye to, with the weather getting cooler the frequent rainfall keeps me from putting it out on the curb, the question in my mind is, what if no one picks it up the thought of dragging it all back in is not an option,so I’d have to wait for a better season to clean my house.

DP Daily Prompt: No Fair Post by Ranu

I am thinking what is it I think is terribly unfair. There are quite a few in my head. One of them is fasting, our fasting month started in the month of July and continued till the first week in August. I have no trouble with it. But at the same time to fast from before sunrise to sunset in the month of July is where it gets kind of difficult. Depending on where you live it is over eighteen solid hours with no food or drink. We get the same credit as those who fast for much less time than us.It is all because of location.

The only way I can rectify is to move to a location where the days and nights are almost the same length. Moving out bag and baggage has its own predicament. It is not easy ,one has to consider the job prospects, housing, the location etc, I guess we have to be happy with our situation and wait for fasting season in December, when you only have to fast for about ten hours. It’s a massive cut!

After all those months of blizzard, freezing rain and lots of it. We in St.John’s look forward to sunny warm days. Visiting different parks, going for walks to signal hill, cooking outside, barbecuing, these are all the fun things,we can enjoy in Summer. We no longer have to turn up the heat, deal with short days, and freezing cold.We can wear clothes without the big Parka which makes us look like a bear.

Summer is the most wonderful season here.It doesn’t get hot like Chicago. We can see our neighbours and watch the little kids on their way to the playgrounds.Suddenly it seems the city is awake!

I also like it because there’s no fear of flights getting cancelled, for inclement weather. It gives us a lot of freedom to enjoy without fear, that it’s too cold, too stormy or something else.
