Writing 101 Day Eleven: Size Matters (in sentences)

Today’s Prompt: Where did you live when you were twelve years old? which town, city and country? Was it a house or an apartment? A boarding school or a foster home ” An airstream or an RV? Who lived there with you?

Today’s twist: pay attention to your sentence lengths and use short, medium, and long sentences, as you compose your response about the home you lived in when you were twelve years old.

Situated in Punjab, Pakistan is the city of Rawalpindi. It was restored by Jhanda Khan after the devastation by the white Hun. This was the  place where I lived when I was twelve years old.

Our house was located  on Peshawar Road. At the front, close to the main road were three majestic Eucalyptus trees, the scent of their leaves awakened the passers by who looked curiously at them.Behind the trees was a  fence  built with bricks, it was a tottering one , ready to collapse any moment. The herd of buffaloes obliged us by leaning on it. The fence came crashing down which made extra work for the gardener and the servant.

The house was a large one, it had to be, to accommodate fourteen living souls, Mom, Dad, and the kids.

In all there were twelve rooms, four larger, eight smaller with attached bathrooms.

Mom and Dad occupied one  large room. The bossy older sister wanted one large enough to entertain her friends, one was designated for our parents’s  friends, and the left-over for us unimportant kids.

Kitchen was a separate building where my mom cooked and the two servants, prepared the vegetables and washed the dishes.

Hi all I’ll appreciate your feedback. Thank you. 🙂

DP Daily Prompts: Moved to Tears

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

Do movies, songs, or other forms of artistic expression easily make you cry?Tell us about a recent tear-jerking experience!

I watched a movie of an unfortunate woman who was kicked out of the house by her mother, she tried to end her life but was rescued by some strangers, she was taken to the home of a bachelor, she was relieved and did everything to bring his house in order by straightening out the servants, cooking cleaning.

The bachelor’s lawyer warned him by saying, she should not be trusted, and he should get rid of her. There is a song she sings which is very sad.

She leaves early morning and tries to commit suicide, but fails again and is told by a woman  she might end up in jail for her attempt to end her life, but can be saved if she listens to her.

The movie was very realistic, I could not stop crying it affected me so much!

DP Daily Prompt: Freaky Friday Post by Ranu

I on the other hand am completely different. I would like to see her reaction, after she spends a day as me. First of all a nine to four job, secondly come home and look after three kids, feed them, spend time with them. The third to cook our meal, eat,do the dishes, sit with the kids to assist them with homework. The point to remember here is these things are to be done by her. There are no servants to pick up, clean up,the whole bit.All these things will be her responsibility.

After spending the day doing what I do. She will not like the experience. She will realize how helpful her servants are.She would stop yelling at them every few minutes. She will treat them kindly. She will give them some time to rest.

Last thing she will learn from this, is how lucky she is and should be thankful to the Creator and His creation!
