Author’s view: On Prayer

Then a priestess said, “Speak to us of Prayer.”

And he answered,  saying :

You pray in your distress and your need; would that you might pray also in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance.

For what is prayer but the expansion of your self into the living ether?

And if it is for your comfort to pour your darkness into space, it is also for your delight to pour forth the dawning of your heart.

And if you cannot but weep when your soul summons you to prayer , she should spur you again and yet again, through weeping until you should come out laughing.

When you pray you rise to meet those who you can only meet by prayer.

Let your visit to that temple invisible be for naught but ecstasy and sweet communion.

If you enter the temple for no other purpose than asking you shall not receive,

you enter into it to humble yourself,

even if you enter it to beg for the good of others you shall not be heard,

It is enough you enter the temple invisible.

God listens not to your words save when He Himself utters them through your lips.

I cannot teach you the the prayer of the seas, the forests or the mountains,

You who are born of the mountains, the forests and the seas can find their prayer in your heart.

And if you listen in the stillness of the night, you shall hear them in silence:

“Our God , who art our winged self, it is thy will in us that willeth.

It is the desire in us that desireth.

“We cannot ask thee for aught for thou knowest our needs before they are born into us .

” Thou art our need ; and in giving us more of thyself thou givest us all.”

365 Writing Prompts: A source of Anxiety

Write about a noise—–or even a silence— that won’t go away(We’ll let you interpret this in different ways…)

“Silence is not always golden.” I found out recently, if it is too quiet in my house something is going on, especially my kittens they must be up to something.

One day our two felines, Raphael and Gabriel were unusually quiet, I was happy thinking they were napping, I ignored their silence and concentrated on my work.

I was deep in thought  when the sound of meow brought me back to reality, I got up to find out where the felines were, sure enough they were busy chewing the cover of my new book.

I just said, “now I know why you two were so quiet.”

Tagore song: Let the vessel of sweet memories, posted and translated by Ranu

Let the farewell  vessel of sweet memories remain filled

In tearful sadness and quiet  depths of silence

May your heart secretly find a new message

You will have to go alone on the path you choose to take

There will be darkness in your eyes

But there will be a ray of light

In your heart

Throughout the day your mind

Will be revived with sweet memories

While in the garden of your heart

The lute will play the music of separation!

DP Daily Prompt: Break the Silence

pad2014-s.png (308√ó60)

When was the last time you really wanted(or needed) to say something, but kept quiet? Write a post about what you should’ve ¬†said.

There are times when silence is golden, but other times it is necessary to speak or write depending on circumstances. I am caught in this dilemma lately, I know it’s always important to use caution, but it can help others who may wonder if the reply presented by someone is right or wrong. When we don’t correct the know it all’s you are wrong in this case they will go home with the assumption, ” I know I’m right otherwise someone would have said, I am wrong.”

Let’s say such a person exists, how do we say you are wrong and some part of your writing is irrelevant too. This is the kind of thing that annoys me, sadly I pretend there is nothing to be afraid of, it’s only a mistake!

DP Challenge Weekly Writing Challenge: The Sound Of Silence

She sat in a corner of her room. Her face had no expression, yet it seemed she was deep in meditation. I sat next to her thinking she might tell me why she was so quiet, I wanted to ask her if she needed anything, she looked at me held my hand and gave me a kiss. I was afraid something bothered her but she wasn’t going to tell what it was. I never saw anyone look ¬†so calm.

I wondered why I was so anxious to know what was going on perhaps there was nothing to tell. She was enjoying her quiet moment. Then my thought told me a different story. ¬†Some of her siblings turned against her. She never knew what she’d done for them to treat her that way.

Rather than argue with them she decided to stay silent and keep to herself and think of things that were pleasant once upon a time. Yes I believe sometimes silence gives you piece of mind which is hard to get when you are discussing it with someone who can make things worse than better.

No wonder they say,”Silence is Golden!”

DP Daily Prompt: Mad As A Hatter

There are times when we think ‘Silence is Golden’. I feel these words are not always practical in real life situation. I’ll tell you why I’m saying that.

One of my classmates in London , remarked, ‘Sabeth you’ll never have enemies you hardly speak’. ‘Not so, I told him, they think I’m too proud’.

This is one example of silence, the other is people think they can easily tell you off. Silence to them means the person is stupid.

Third example is the one where you do everything you’re asked in return you’re yelled at.

The third example is what I’ll deal with today. My husband asked me to cut his hair one day. He had all the barber’s tools. The only problem was I never trained to be a barber. I told him I did not think I could do it. He assured me it’s simple.

So I took the role of a barber but had no experience. ¬†I took on the job and started cutting his hair. I spent about ten minutes when my husband suddenly yelled at me,what was my fault, according to him I was moving too much. I completely lost it I was so angry I thought I’d ¬†start crying. I cannot recall if I wept, but I certainly let him know what I thought of his behavior.

My husband was shocked to see me so angry. He had a smile on his face. His expression was enough for me to know he could not believe I’d be this angry.

DP Daily Prompt: A Source of Anxiety Ranu’s Post

The lights were on, I came in I called out ‘anyone here’? ¬†Silence. I moved around ,wondered where my nephew was.As far as I know,he ¬†is¬†at work. Why didn’t he ¬†turn off the lights. Who will answer my questions? There was deathly silence.

I went from room to room to find out,if someone was hiding.I was tired and scared. I felt at this moment what if the intruder attacks me from the back. I then decided to go to his bedroom. The closet was open. The bed was not made. My nephew was very particular about his room,he always made sure he left it in a squeaky clean condition. I kept thinking, ‘What is wrong’?

Then I saw what was beyond my imagination. My nephew was lying on the floor between the bed and the closet, he had no pulse,I tried to shake him but there was no movement, in ,I reached the phone, called my niece, she came over, she called 911 immediately. They came over, examined him and pronounced him “Dead”.

His parents were in shock. He never complained of any sickness. He was only thirty how could this happen to such a young man. The questions still are running through the head  of the parents, sadly there are no  answers!
