Sarah must elevate her game of   tennis,

If she doesn’t  she’ll always lose to Venus.

Sadly Venus is much older,

And Sarah is way younger,

I’d like to see Sarah’s success  if she elevates her tennis!

Daily Prompt: Practice Makes Perfect

Tell us about a talent you’d love to have — but don’t.

I’d love to be a reasonably good photographer, only thing that comes between me and acquiring that skill is patience. I have a camera but I do not practice at all. I need to motivate myself to start using my camera.

I sometimes wonder why when it comes to using my camera to practice taking pictures, I think of other things to do. I’d love to be one of those people who take excellent photographs.

I hope one of these days I’d use my camera, I’ll make an attempt to see how far I can go in  developing an entirely new skill.

365 Writing Prompts: Teachable moment

You have to learn a new skill.Do you prefer to read about it,watch someone else do it, hear someone describe it, or try it yourself?

To learn a new skill, it is important to know what the skill is about. Reading  will help me how easy or difficult it is, after reading it I’d like to watch someone do it, if I feel confident I will try to do it myself.

A new skill requires a lot of concentration, by reading it I hope to figure out if the said skill is easy or complicated. If reading alone doesn’t help, I’d watch someone do it. Then I might be brave enough to try it.

This learning of a skill brings back memories of my first day at the skating rink. It was a completely new experience.I didn’t read, watch or heard anyone describe it.

I saw the skating rink full of people young and old skating especially little kids were having a grand time. I told myself how hard can it be if these little ones can go round and round gliding ,laughing racing each other on the ice, I only want to learn to skate how hard can it be? Well my problem was I was scared I’d fall down. This fear in me was the reason I could not learn to skate.

Writing Prompt: Teachable Moment

If I need to learn a skill. I feel it is important to read about it. If I am unable to make sense of it by reading.  I’d try to watch someone else do it.

The only problem I have with watching someone is sometimes they do it too quickly,I am left wondering how on earth did he do that.My experience with demonstration hasn’t been good. I am not the only one who has trouble. My husband bought a gadget, just by watching someone go through the process, when he came home and tried, things did not work out. This is what he said,”It looked so easy when she was showing it, now I can’t even do one thing with it.”

Hear someone describe it, is not going to work for me either. The best thing I think is to read it and do it myself.

DP Daily Prompt: World’s Best Widget

I am not sure what kind of widget I can invent. It certainly won’t be, “World’s Best”, maybe the other way around might sound possible. Let me see how I can use this engineering skill that I am granted to invent ONE gadget.

I will build something with wood,I have plenty of this thing in my house, I’m waiting to see how it can be used to build a magical widget. Lately I noticed there are certain things I need to carry on my work. With the skills I’m granted,I’d build a gadget that will have power to speak and sing. Every time I publish my post,this gadget on the touch of a button will speak,sing and dance and attract the passers by to come and read my amazing post.My gadget made of wood will have windows from where a head will pop out and sing about my post. The other window will have a creature with eyes which would use its magnet to drag the people to my blog. The third window will distribute goodies, such as chocolate, candies,pizza ,hot dogs. Who wouldn’t like to stop and taste it. The condition would be they have to read the post and comment,then they’d be eligible.

Sound quite desperate doesn’t it!

365 day posts Jan. 22 “I Got Skills”

If I could be a mistress of any skill in the world I’d pick teaching young children. I’ve spent a number of years teaching elementary pupils, I think I’ve gathered enough experience to do the job successfully.

Pupils at the age from five to eleven are easy to handle. They believe in the teacher. They think after their Mom a teacher is their next best  friend.

I also know there are kids who are different. They’re unable to confide in their teacher. I taught many kids I know what they like and dislike. I believe I can do a better job handling elementary kids.

New year’s resolutions (Photo credit: Brett Jordan)

I know 2014 is already at my doorstep. What are my goals for the coming ‘New Year’?  I am planning to hone my sewing skill. I know it is a big , “New Year’s Resolution’ for me . How far success takes me remains to be seen. The fact I am thinking is a step in the right direction.

I have more than one skill to improve. My writing skill is still in the primary grade level. Then there is the course I registered in frankly speaking, I am still not  studying regularly. I will make conscious effort to take care of it.

I wake up early enough,it is not a problem. I must try at least to do all the things I am thinking of doing. I have  fabric waiting to stitch. Write more to get better. I must diligently study to get ahead.

The studying part requires inspiration. There are no tests ,just assignments. It should be easy to keep up. I continuously do what the hare did, I dose off and then try to speed up. I forget that the hare lost the race.I too will if I don’t give up my bad habit.

 

So 2014 you will see a changed Ranu. This is my goal!
