Daily Prompt : Song, Bengali song translated and posted by ranu by Ranu

In response to prompt : Song

Don’t Turn The Light On!

O sky do not turn the light on

Don’t open your eyes o wind,

It will make my beloved shy

She may turn around and leave

It’s time for her to  give me the garland

She will sing a song with her heart

Do not use her tune to come down o fountain

O tree of red flowers do not look

Sing not o dear Cuckoo

It will make my bashful creeper shy

Her words will freeze in her mouth

Her timid self has many dreams

Alas her tune floats in the middle of her heart

For God’s sake O flower do not confuse her rhythm!

Daily Prompt : Opaque

In response to daily post’s one-word prompt : Opaque

Each morning I dread watching the opaque sky,

I wonder what’s happening up above I sigh!

Are the Angels and demons having a fight,

Will they drop their arsenals with their might?

What will become of us I’m frightened to think,

Will mankind float or they’ll just sink?

These queer thoughts keeps me awake,

I  cannot understand what more I can take!

Daily Post : SKY

In response to wordpress one-word prompt : Sky

Each morning I wake up and look out the window to see the color of the sky. I know it either shows clouds or the blue sky. This morning outside looked bright, I immediately decided I must go for a walk, I checked the weather channel on TV, it showed 10 degrees Celsius, I was certain it’s warm, I dressed up in my light shirt and light trousers. I thought I wouldn’t need a cardigan but must wear a thin jacket just in case the clouds move in out of nowhere and rain starts falling.

I got out of my house and started walking in the direction of the bus stop, as I was walking the air felt chilly, I kept walking because I did not want to go back to the house to change. I looked around saw each passerby was wearing a warmer jacket than mine. The bus was due in five minutes, not enough time for me to go back and change. I stayed and waited for the bus, it came I got on, tried to ignore the cold wind,I knew I’d be in the mall in ten minutes, when I’m inside who cares if it’s cold outside. I walked around in the mall for an hour. It was noon I hurried to the bus stop, waited a couple of minutes for the bus, when it arrived I got on. I thanked my lucky stars that the weather did not get too cold. Next time I’d be more careful, before I step out of the house, the sunny  blue sky doesn’t always mean  it’s warm.

Why do I always forget I am in Newfoundland, here days are unpredictable.

Tagore song: singer Hemant Kumar Posted and translated by Ranu

The clouds in the evening sky covered the stars

I was able to say what was on my mind.

Maybe you didn’t listen,

which is why you bid me goodbye with ease-

The sky was resounding with shower of rain.

When I looked at you , you failed to look up,

The darkness quietly covered the pain.

Will there ever be an evening like this-

Alas it is lost forever!

Song: Bengali song : singers Bashir and Anjuman Ara; Posted and translated by ranu

This is a song sung by a  female singer I used to know. She is a Bengali. She had a very sweet and amiable disposition which is rare among those who reach the heights of fame.I’m translating this song to celebrate the memory of a person who was loved by those of us who knew her.

The sky has heaps of blue

The air has some scent

the night is lighted by the glow- worm

the stream has a soft rhythm

Only my hands are empty

but  my eyes are full of tears

My lonely heart has closed the doors of hope

I cannot understand what’s wrong with  me

Why can’t I overcome my bashfulness

I’ve tried to tell many times but could not

I fail to understand how will I say it

How long can I aimlessly drift in this thought

I know not why I have this conflict!

DP Daily Prompt: Roy G. Biv

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

Write about anything you’d like , but make sure that all colors of the rainbow– red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet– make an appearance in the post, either through word or image.

The clear sky tempted Pamela to go for a walk, it has been a long time since she got out of the house. The sun was shining brightly, the grass looked its original color and children skipping with amusement reminded her of her childhood.

Walking along a deserted path she met Sangita, her friend from school, they were delighted to see each other. All at once Sangita asked Pam if she’d be interested to come to their ‘Holi Party.’ Pam wasn’t sure it was such a great idea, she was wearing her attractive indigo dress, she did not want it to be smothered by multi- colors. Pam tried to excuse herself but Sangita refused to take ‘No’ for an answer. Reluctantly she agreed hoping her dress wouldn’t be ruined.

While walking along Pam tripped up fell down and scraped her knee, it was bleeding, she panicked and excused herself and ran home.

Mom was waiting for her with a bunch of Marigolds given by their neighbor, Pam got some band-aid to put on her knee and sat down with her mother. They chatted for a while mom went to check her roast, Pam took a magazine to read, it was all about Kate, Prince William’s wife. Pam loved Kate’s  dress it was a beautiful violet, she  looked extremely pretty in it.

Pam made up her mind to get an orange dress for herself to celebrate Spring!

Bengali Song, singer Srikanto: Posted and translated by ranu

Do not turn on the lights oh sky

Do not open your eyes oh wind

My beloved might be shy

She may  come close and leave

It’s time for her

To give me the garland.

This time she will

Try her best to sing to me.

Waterfall, do not imitate the

same tune when you trickle down!

Do not turn on the lights oh sky,

Oh tree of red flowers,

Do not look back.

Oh Cuckoo do not sing,

My sensitive beloved,

Might be bashful.

Her words may freeze,

In her mouth.

She has a lot of timid,

Hopes in her heart.

For heaven’s sake,

oh dear scented flower

Do not disturb the rhythm

Of her song by releasing your scent!

Tagore song singer Kavita Krishnamurthy posted and translated by Ranu

My dear friend

What is anxiety, what is pain,

Day and night you talk about love,

Dear friend what is love?

Is it only pain, shedding tears

and sorrowful sigh

How do people give up

Happiness for love

To me everything is pleasant

fresh, young, and clear

Deep blue sky, green forest

clear moonlight

soft and gentle flower

They are like me

they only laugh and sing

they want to enjoy life and then die

they know not pain or weeping

nor do they fancy torment

The flower laughs and withers

Moonlight smiles and disappears

The night star laughs and  sacrifices itself

in the lighted ocean

Is there anyone happy like me

Come to me my friend

your heart will calm down

when you hear my happy song

If you are destined to weep daily

why not laugh at least for one day

forget your depression

So we all can sing a happy song together!

365 Writing Prompt: Opposite Day

If you normally write non-fiction, post a photo. If you normally write fiction, write a poem.If you normally write poetry, draw a picture.

I’ve traveled far and wide

But never could I hide

My fear of people who sigh

Because I didn’t know why!

So I looked up in the sky

To get my answer

All I saw was a bunch of cloud

That made a sound so loud

It made me twirl round and round!

I met a man who claimed to have the answer

They sigh to refresh their breath he said

I didn’t believe it

But they all said, that is it!

I will never get my answer

So now I think I have no fear

Why should I care if they sigh

There could be a million reason why!
