Tagore song: tumi shondhar o megh o mala, singer Srikanto,Translated by Ranu

You are evenings ray of clouds

You I worship

My boundless sky

I gathered the sweetness from my heart

And created you

You are mine,you are mine

My boundless sky

You are evenings ray of clouds

You I worship

I have painted your feet

Crimson red with my blood

Oh evenings dreamy sky

I have drawn your lips

with the mixture of sweetness and

bitterness of my life

you are mine

My solitary soul

You are evenings ray of clouds

My incomprehensible dream

I have dressed your charming eyes

I have wrapped my music

in every part of your body

You are mine, you are mine

Oh my boundless sky

You I worship!!

Fire of Music by Tagore Sung by Pratima Mukhopadhay Translated by Ranu

You have attached the fire of

Music in my heart

This fire has spread everywhere

Everywhere everywhere

On all  the branches of dead trees

This fire is dancing

At the beat of this music

To whom in the sky

Is it extending its hands

You have attached the fire of

Music in my heart

The stars in the dark sky

Are struck with wonder

What kind of crazy wind is blowing

On a clear midnight sky

What suddenly blossomed

The golden lotus has blossomed

Who knows what kind of

Charm the fire has

You have attached the fire of

Music in my heart!

Bengali Song olir o kautha Bengali Song, Post and translation by Ranu, https://sabethville.wordpress.com

The flower laughs when the bumblebee speaks,
You don’t laugh when I speak.

Spring greets Earth and touches it,
But you never come close to me.

High above, the clouds float and embrace the sky,
You don’t embrace me even in my dreams.

The moonlight brightens the dark sky,
But your light never reaches my heart.

The bird lovingly calls its partner to the nest,
But your voice is silent.

NaBloPoMo Nov. 13 “Aye mere dil kahin aur chal (Hindi song)Translation and post by Ranuhttps://sabethville.wordpress.com

O my heart let’s go somewhere else,

I am tired of this world of sorrow

Find   me a new home.

O my heart let’s go somewhere else,

I am tired of this world of sorrow

Find me a new home.

Let’s go where  no one’s unhappy,

No stars of false hope is visible.

What’s the use of springtime,

when my heart is broken,

And it reopens my wound.

O my heart let’s go somewhere else

I am tired of this world of sorrow,

Find me a new home.

Tears are shed by some,

Others turn around and leave.

The world of some came crashing down,

The earth stood still and stared,

And the hardhearted sky kept quiet!

O my heart let’s go somewhere else

I am tired of this world of sorrow,

Find me a new home!

Tagore song by Deb Biswas Translation and posted by Ranu

Cloud said I will go,I will go.

Night said I am going.

Ocean said great,

I am no more.

Sorrow said I stay quiet

as his footprint.

I say,I join them together

I want nothing else.

Earth says, you have the welcome garland,

the sky says I will light up

millions of lights.

Love says I am awake for you

in every age.

Death says

I row your life’s boat.

Cloud said I will go ,I will go.

You are the sky and the dwelling at the same time.

O beautiful, your love is solid in this tiny hut

each moment in various hues, in diverse scent and songs,

the charming life surrounds the foundation

There daybreak holds its gold dish

brings one graceful garland

quietly dresses  the earth’s destiny;

evening comes in meekly on the empty ground

on the road without any mark

calmly filling water from the ocean.

Where you are , it’s our souls’ sky

where the boundless field is in motion

there is nothing,no days, no nights no living things,

no color, no smell ,no speech simply nothing.

Taal Gaach, The Palmyra Tree by Tagore Translation by Ranu

Palmyra Toddy

Palmyra Toddy (Photo credit: lakpuratravels)

Palmyra tree       standing on one leg

surpassing  trees

peeks at the sky.

Its desire            to pierce through the black clouds,

fly away__

where will it find  wings.

This is why       on top of its head

in its round leaves

it gets its wish

it thinks           these are  wings,

it’s not prohibited to fly

leaving its home.

All day              tottering sound is heard

the leaves tremble,

it thinks it’s flying_

it feels           it will  travel  the sky

avoid the stars

as if  going somewhere.

Afterwards    when the breeze comes to a halt,

the leaves stop trembling,

it comes back to reality__

the earth is its mother,

feels good once again

to see      the corner of the universe.!

‘Alas    sky how could we do without you!

Oh dear sun ,I dream about you ,I cannot be of service to you.’

Dew cried and said___

‘I am unable to tie you down,

oh sun ,I do not have the strength to do so.

Without you my short life is only full of tears.’

‘I give light to this vast earth,

I can still catch the dew drops, and love them.’

the sun came on the dew drops

said laughing__

‘I’ll stay small and fill you up,

I’ll shape your short life with laughter.’

Getting Lost By R. Tagore___translated by Ranu

Getting Lost

My little daughter

she heard her friends calling her

she was going down the stairs to meet them

it was dark, she was scared ,she was taking careful steps.

She was holding a small open flame, little lamp,

she was cautiously keeping the lamp from the breeze with the corner of her sari.

I was on the roof watching the sky

in the dark night in springtime was full of stars.

Suddenly I heard my daughter crying

I ran down to see her.

While going down the stairs

a sudden gust of wind extinguished her lamp.

I asked her,’What is it Bami?’

She cried from downstairs, ‘I am lost.’

On that night of spring the sky was full of stars

I went back to the roof

while watching the stars I visualized as if I was a little girl like Bami

holding the corner of my blue sari

walking  alone ever so slowly protecting the lamp.

If the lamp was put out, stopped giving light suddenly,

there will be an echo of a tearful voice from the whole sky,’I am lost.’
