Daily Prompt : Funnel

In response to one-word prompt : Funnel

The funnel is a very  useful thing,

It helps poring liquid without spilling.

Whoever invented it made our job easy,

Or else we’d flood the floors and go crazy.

God created humans knowing they’d be smart,

It was His way of showing Angels, His fine Art!

Daily Prompt : Egg

In response to prompt : Egg

I met a strange woman  named Casket,

She said, ‘do not put all your eggs in one basket.’

I struggled to know what she meant by this,

I decided to ask my smart friend Bliss.

At first he laughed and made fun of me,

Then he said, ‘I’ll explain over a cup of tea.’

Okay  I said, ‘it’s simple to make one cup for you,

If you promise to answer my question too.’

Then after a long pause, he finally said,

‘Diversify your investment, instead,

Of putting all your money in one stock .’

I said, ‘you’re so  smart,  you rock!’

………………………… 🙂

365 days Writing Prompt: Shape up or ship out

Write a letter to the personality trait you like least, convincing it to shape up or ship out. Be as threatening , theatrical , or thoroughly charming as is necessary to get the job done.

D ear Cynic,

You have a lot going for you, you are smart, educated and have a beautiful family that some wish they could have, yet your dealings with the very people who helped you  reach where you are is deplorable. You are selfish, conceited these are traits I absolutely abhor, you think you’ll always have this life and you don’t have to make concessions for the people who are always there when you need them.

Let me bring you back to reality, there will come a time when all these people whom you are treating badly, will leave you and nothing you say or do will make any difference, they’d be so fed up they’ll even stay away from your shadow.

There is still time for you to mend your ways, you might still have some hope if you turn around and change for good. So either you make yourself presentable to others or my dear the clock is ticking, you may face a day when no one would come to your assistance.

Do not wait until that day!

Sincerely,

Well-wisher

Daily Prompt: Three Coins in the Fountain

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

I never had the privilege of throwing three coins  in the fountain, there were no fountains near where I lived to toss a few coins. Besides if there were fountains, there were signs put up not to mess them up, never mind the coins, these were wealthy people who owned them, and they were not interested to to see pennies at the bottom.

But there was a place in Chittagong, Bangladesh, where I visited with my mother, they had a lot of red strings hanging from the branches of one tree.  There were stories told by people guarding the place  to make a wish and tie the knot. Also if our wish was fulfilled we must go back and untie the knot.

I remember tying a knot but couldn’t remember what my wish was and also I lived in a different town to untie the knot I’d have to go back by train , it takes four hours from my place . It didn’t happen. I did ask my mother how will I know which one was mine, she said it didn’t matter I could untie anyone. I get it, this is one way of making us untie at least  one knot so the next person wouldn’t have to untie  to tie a knot. Isn’t it  a smart thing?
