Harming Effects Of Cigarette Smoking!
Cigarette smoking is dangerous and is toxic to the body. It causes about 480,000 deaths in the United States each year.
It harms almost every bodily organ in the body. It hurts a person’s overall health. It causes cancers of the lung, mouth, throat, liver, pancreas, stomach and more.
It’s also responsible for heart disease, stroke, diabetes etc.,
Smoking is highly addictive, the cause is nicotine, which is naturally present in tobacco plant. Tobacco companies design cigarettes to contain enough nicotine to create addiction!
If your day to day responsibilities were taken care of and you could throw yourself completely behind a cause, what would it be?
My major concern at this stage is to try to discourage smoking. This addiction takes away many lives every year. There are ads that specifically makes humans aware of how dangerous it is to smoke. Those who smoke perhaps don’t even read those ads or probably feel not everyone gets cancer because of smoking.
I know a number of people who have died from lung cancer. I’d like to take some time to educate little kids who smoke. Because they’ve seen older kids smoking they do not understand the danger of smoking, maybe in their minds they think it’s okay it won’t hurt.
I had a little boy in my class who started smoking at a very young age, when he was in my class I noticed his fingers were yellow. a little nine year old who had no idea how much harm he was causing his body. When I asked him the question, he simply denied. I had him sit next to my desk to do his work, and had a careful conversation with him.
During our conversation he admitted smoking, he told me he was given cigarettes by the older kids. By the time I knew him it seemed to me he was already addicted to smoking, there was no chance of turning him around.
I want to alert the kids about the dangers of smoking. I’d make sure they know there is always a danger of getting lung cancer. I’d get some videos where they show the condition of the lungs before and after smoking. I’ve seen them it’s very scary.
To me this is the most important cause.
Tell about a habit you’d like to break. Is there any way it can play a positive role in your life?
A habit is something not easy to break, think about the millions of smokers, they know it’s detrimental to their health and they must break this habit, but they cannot.
Then there are scores of people who love fast food, which is also harmful as far as their health goes, they are not successful giving up this craze for fast food.
These are only couple of things I’m thinking of which are bad habits, there are good habits as well, such as,”early to bed early to rise makes a person, healthy, wealthy and wise.”
At this moment I cannot think of a habit I’d like to break!
We all have bad habits galore, we watch too much TV,we waste our time doing nothing,we gossip, we love sweets, we smoke.
Some of the habits are hard to change but others need to change such as smoking. Smoking is a number one killer,it endangers one’s health. It’s a sheer waste of money because it only contributes to ill-health. Lung cancer is believed to be the end result of smoking. When we didn’t know enough of it we felt well there’s nothing we can do about it. It’s a habit they cannot break out of.
Since it’s been out second hand smoking is worse. I am not too happy about getting sick because of someone else’ s addiction.
