Daily Prompt : Astral

In response to prompt : Astral

Astral or Visionary

Ever since I read , after death  man leaves his astral body on earth,

Astral or sidereal, what is it I thought, it relates to the distant stars,

Or make it more meaningful it is their apparent position in the sky.

If that is so when I see the stars, I’d assume they are my parents,

Discussing their plans with the siblings that joined them about us.

I wish I could magically go and overhear what they are saying about us,

It’d be so awesome no one can understand what a pleasure such a journey is,

For me, for anyone on this earth who is as curious as I am!

Tagore song, posted and translated by ranu

I will offer a prayer

for all my sorrows

at the end of this day.

My prayer of sorrow

is not completed.

When the evening shadow announces

the end of the day,

When the birds fly into their nest,

And the evening bell is rung for worship

then the last of my life’s light

will burn.

Memories of my pain

bind me in knots of deep despair,

It’s filled up in my mind this day

When the sacrificial fire of worship

releases the knots of my despair

One by one stars will appear ,

They will  fly freely in the sky

With the vision of  sunset

there will be preparations

to complete my prayer of sorrow!

Tagore Song:Akaash jurhey posted and translated by Ranu

I hear the musical note

all over the sky

your name is ringing

in the middle of the stars

I know not when it came down

and touched my fate

its peaceful shower washed my pain!

On that dark night

my mind merged

with the star-filled sky.

This is how I want

my heart to unite with your name

and be busy with my life’s work!

Fire of Music by Tagore Sung by Pratima Mukhopadhay Translated by Ranu

You have attached the fire of

Music in my heart

This fire has spread everywhere

Everywhere everywhere

On all  the branches of dead trees

This fire is dancing

At the beat of this music

To whom in the sky

Is it extending its hands

You have attached the fire of

Music in my heart

The stars in the dark sky

Are struck with wonder

What kind of crazy wind is blowing

On a clear midnight sky

What suddenly blossomed

The golden lotus has blossomed

Who knows what kind of

Charm the fire has

You have attached the fire of

Music in my heart!

Tagore song,(amaar raat pohalo)My night has ended translated and posted by Ranu post by ranu

My night has ended,

on this Autumn morning

my night has ended.

O flute, who can I leave you with

my night has ended.

A sound rang in your chest

announcing the parting.

so many seasons,mornings

have gone by,

now my night has ended.

The words that remained  secret

in my heart,

you stole them in your songs.

That time has ended

like the stars at night.

It is time to end this journey

like the withered flowers.

My night has ended ,

on this Autumn morning!

DP Daily Prompt: Who Is The Dearest Person In This World? Post by Ranu

Moon (annotated)

Moon (annotated) (Photo credit: hypergenesb)

Moon asked the stars,

The stars asked thousands out there,

Who is the dearest person in this world?

I said,”It is my Dad,my Dad.”

Tall handsome and brilliant,

This is how I saw my Dad.

He spoke many languages,

He helped me when I was in need.

He scolded me when I was wrong.

He was affectionate beyond words,

He was concerned when I was unhappy,

He made sure he knew the cause.

He taught me all I know.

He was a very protective Dad,

He always had time for me,

Even if he was busy.

He cautioned me to beware,

“Do not let anyone take advantage

of you”,he would say.

I feel sad when I think of him,

He passed away ,

When I was very young.

I always wished,

He would be with us longer.

When the moon,stars asked thousands,

Who is the ‘Dearest person on this earth?’

I put my hand up way up pointing the sky,

It has to be my Dad, my Dad,

“He deserves the title more than anyone else”.

Life’s Journey by Tagore Translation by ranu

Life’s Journey     Rabindranath Tagore

Your journey is beginning.     Mine is ending.

You and I together will flow on forever.

Your light is shining, you have a companion.

I have the night before me.   The stars are shining above me.

Your journey is beginning. Mine is ending.

You are on land.     I am in the water.

You are sitting calmly.    I am restless and moving.

Your hand is young and strong.   My hand is old and rusty.

In your mind you are fearful.     I am free from fear.

Your journey is beginning.  Mine is ending.

You and I together will flow on forever.
