DP Daily Prompt:Work? Optional!

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

If money were out of the equation, would you still work? If yes, why, and how much? If not, what would you do with your free time?

If money were  out of the equation, I will not work.

There is so much one can do other than a 9 to 5 job. We may think we have a lot of free time, actually we don’t. When we work for money, almost all of our time we spend working, when we are unable to get it done in the office we bring it home. As a result we completely neglect, the house in which we live.

In my free time, I  can  work in the garden, the hedge I planted few years ago hasn’t grown the way it should, the winter was very harsh, I was unable to cover it before the arrival of winter.

There is also plenty of work inside the house, which I can do.

I’m enjoying blogging, I can use my free time to write short stories, biographies of my favorite poets and philosophers. I think I would love to use my free time to read some of the books,  I have not read yet.

365 days Writing Prompt: Tourist trap

What’s your dream tourist destination— either a place you’ve seen and loved, or a place you’d love to visit? What about it speaks to you?

My dream tourist destination would be to visit the places where our famous poet and philosopher grew up and wrote his amazing poetry and song lyrics.

The country is India and the place is Kolkata, a city of millions where life is difficult for most citizens, hunger homelessness and continuous hardship make the poor wonder, “Is this the reason we were born here to suffer and live day to day life in sheer agony?”

Tagore’s poems and Sarat Chandra’s novels are the reason I’d like to visit this particular city, how they felt when they witnessed the plight of the majority of citizens, and wrote their amazing poems and stories to tell those suffering humanity, ” I feel your pain!”

When we think of traveling we usually think of wonderful sights to see, delectable foods, gorgeous clothes to buy and spend time in a place which feels like a paradise on earth.

There’s nothing wrong with it, we are allowed to enjoy ourselves after a hard months of work. We all think differently and do as we please.

When I read the prompt this morning, it made me think, where would I go if I had a chance, Tagore’s song: “Oh my homeland you have given me so much.” It was easy to make up my mind where I’d like to go. I’ve posted this for all to see, how simple life is.

365 days Writing Prompt: Say your Name

Write about your first name: Are you named after someone or something? Are there any stories or associations attached to it? If you had the choice, would you rename yourself?

My first name is CHAMAN,  I am not named after someone but am named after something, the thing is a Garden.I presume my father was delighted to have a second daughter after double the number of sons, he I think consulted his dear friend, who was an artist and loved reading about names,my father went to him at the most opportune time, he was reading about names for girls and how they affect their personality.

“Eureka I have found a name for your daughter, he said, name her Chaman, it sounds beautiful and it means a garden, how can you go wrong with this name.”

My father rushed home, told my mother he’s found the best name, “it is Chaman, don’t you hear the rhythm of this name, it’s settled we’ll name her Chaman?” Then this excitement brought on other stories of the name, Urdu poets have written volumes of poetry centred around this exquisite name.

Chaman grew up to be a very inquisitive little girl, you could not tell her anything without answering her ‘Why’ questions that followed, her eldest brother tried to stop her by saying, “You know curiosity killed a cat, ‘how’ was her query. Elder brother gave up and felt with time this habit will no longer persist.

I love my name I’ll never think of changing it even if I had a choice. Would you change yours if there were so many magical stories attached to it?

DP Daily Prompt: BYOB(ookworm)

This is something I’ve never done or even thought about it. Like everything else I will try this as well.

How will I write a blurb. I am not yet experienced enough to write a book. I have written some short stories. I’ll have to imagine one of those is a novel I have written and published. How do I make my blurb attractive enough, to make the readers instantly buy the book.

My blurb will be, “It’s the story of a child who learns to transform his life.”

I’ve taken the idea from one of the short stories  I’ve written.
