365 Writing Prompts: Planes, trains, and automobiles

You’re going on a cross-country trip, airplane, train, bus or car?( or something else entirely-bike? Hot-air balloon?)

I will write about our trip by car from Gander  to  Waterville Maine. We started from Gander in the morning on the trans-Canada highway. It took around ten hours to get to Port-Aux-Basques to catch the ferry. The ferry was due to arrive some time after 9 PM. We went to a local restaurant to have supper. After having our meal we drove to the dock to catch the ferry.

The ferry arrived on time, there was a set place for the cars to park inside the ferry. Since there were a lot of cars we had to wait our turn to get in. After parking the car we went to our cabin, it took about four and a half hours to reach North Sydney in Nova Scotia. It was very dark my husband followed the cars that were in the front.

When the sun rose we could see what was around us, we stopped at the McDonald’s restaurant to have breakfast. After eating we were on our way to Maine, we drove by some small communities until we reached St.Stephen, we spend the night there and early next morning we were on our way to Waterville Maine. When we reached the place after a few hours, we looked for the home of Mrs. Landlady(I’ve forgotten her name) . We did not have much trouble finding her home which my husband rented for two months, the landlady left the keys with her neighbor. My husband got the keys, we entered the house, it was small but a comfortable place.

We invited the landlady for dinner once, she loved our food and we loved her company. After two months we got our stuff packed and travelled back to “Our Home Sweet Home In Gander”!

365 Writing Prompt: Ripped into the headline

Write about something that happened over the weekend as though it’s the top story on your local paper.

Over the weekend we had a guest for supper. I was the cook, I did not leave any stone unturned to make it a very successful venture.

The menu was fried beef, chicken curry, garbanzo beans cooked with potatoes, matar pilaf and a salad.

For dessert I made Gulab Jamun and served it with sweet yogurt, then the herbal tea.

The beef, chicken, garbanzo beans, rice pilaf with peas and the salad were all winners.

The dessert took the second spot because I forgot one ingredient and ended up making it again. The remake was okay but could have been better. Sometimes I fail to understand why there has to be one dish which has failure written all over it.

We had a grand time, our guest was a  nice person , he enjoyed the food and we were delighted.

This was my weekend and I wouldn’t doubt it was good enough to make the headline on our local paper!

365 Writing Prompts: Can’t get enough of it

Have you ever been addicted to anything or worried that you were? Have you ever spent too much time and effort on something that was a distraction from your goals? Tell us about it.

If you call reading an  addiction ,yes I was addicted to reading Paulo Coelho’s books for quite some time.

I discovered him after reading his best seller and bought all his books available in our local store. I wasn’t distracted I just read his books any chance I got.

In the morning after breakfast was a good time to read his books, it’s the time when I didn’t have anything important that I must do, lunch was simple I’d grab two slices of bread and melt some cheese or put some peanut butter, this was a simple sandwich for me which took five minutes to prepare and another five to eat.I’d then read the book.

All my cooking was done before supper which was not a problem,I’d just put the book away and prepare supper. After supper, I’d wash the dishes and then go back to reading until all the books of Paulo was finished.

I was unable to find anyone to discuss what they are thinking about. What I was thinking was why is the water from the tap orange. The answer was they were cleaning the valve and it will take couple of hours to get clear water.Since I was supposed to take a shower and will have to wait.I called my friend in Montreal to find out what she was thinking about.

The following is the dialogue between Ranu, that’s me and Dilruba my friend:

Ranu : How are you?

Dilruba :  I am fine,I am thinking what will I cook for supper.

Ranu: Are you having guests?

Dilruba:  No my kids are coming for lunch tomorrow,I want to cook some food so they can take home.

Ranu: What do they like, that they don’t have time to cook?

Dilruba : They all love chicken,I am thinking of cooking some more dishes,it will help because they can eat the whole week without cooking.

Ranu: I might come to see you, hopefully in August,if you are free.

Dilruba: I always love to see you, come any time.

Ranu: I think I’ll book my flight for August,it was nice talking to you.Take care and goodbye.
