365 Writing Prompts: Interplanet Janet

You get to design your own planet: tell us all about your planet– the weather,the seasons,the inhabitants. Go.

My planet will be a place where poverty is non-existent. Families will have homes according to their needs, a small family of four members will have a home for four people, i.e, three bedrooms , a moderate size kitchen, two full bathrooms, one for the parents and one for the kids, there will be a powder room with a sink and a toilet for guests.

The kitchen will be equipped with all the necessary appliances, such as a stove, refrigerator, toaster oven  microwave oven and a dishwasher. There will be a double sink in the kitchen, one part for washing and the other for drying. we don’t need a dishwasher every day, a few dishes used can be hand washed and put away.

Larger families will have larger homes.

The citizens will be free to practice their religion without any interference. Education will be free, the farmers will produce and consume their food and sell them in the market, they will own their land, there will be no landlords.

There will be entertainment centers and centers for physical exercise,to make sure everyone is happy and healthy.

There will be public transportation for all to use, the citizens will be encouraged to use private cars only when it is absolutely necessary to prevent pollution.

There will be government subsidized health clinics for all the people on my planet.

The climate  will be temperate,not too hot nor too cold. There will be two seasons, winter and summer. In the winter the citizens will need a light coat or a slightly warmer sweater or cardigan. The summer will be tolerable,not too hot.

The inhabitants will be encouraged to get education according to their potential, there will be regular tests conducted by educators who will decide what kind of education a certain individual needs in order to be useful for he/ she to be a productive citizen.

Armies will not be required to defend the planet, the citizens will be trustworthy and will  stay away from any kind of quarrel on a small or large scale.

There will be one meeting a month to find out if there is anyone unhappy about anything, if necessary help will be given to them instantly.

I hope all the people on my planet will always be healthy and happy and will help each other.

DP Daily Prompt: Interplanet Janet

The weather in my planet will be temperate. It will not have excessive hot or cold climate. It will have some precipitation in the form of rain.  Each month there will be a week of rain. This is necessary for plants, animals and for us too. We will have mild summers and winters.  It will be pleasant in summer. During the cold season the temperature will not go under forty degrees Fahrenheit. A light coat will be sufficient to stay warm.  Spring and Autumn will be colorful .

The inhabitants will work to keep the planet clean and tidy. Each family will have one mode of transportation they will either have a car,bicycle,or motor cycle. There’ll be public transportation for those who prefer . The number of vehicles used on the road will be limited. This will eliminate pollution.

Education will be compulsory and free. Incentives will be given to hardworking students,this will be in the form of cash or something they need. The size of the classroom will not exceed twenty students. Books ,exercise books,pen and pencils will be provided for everyone.

Teachers will help students with their work after school whenever there is need.

The administrators of City Hall will meet once and discuss about the services provided to make sure there is no problem.

My planet will be a happy planet. Steps will be taken to keep everyone happy.

Geneva(Switzerland)

I will give a brief introduction,why I chose to write about Geneva.Our International Airlines ‘Air Canada,’ was holding a competition.We were required to write about a place,we were interested to visit. The deadline has passed,I’m eager to write,not for any reason,but I was told,it is a beautiful city to visit. Whether I will or not is immaterial.I’d like to check it out and therefore some research is necessary.

Geneva,is the second most populous city in Switzerland.Situated where the Rhone exits Lake Geneva,it is the capital of the republic and Canton of Geneva.It has a population of 192,385 (as of June 2012).It is a global city,a financial centre and worldwide centre for diplomacy and the most important U.N international co-operation centre with New York.It has numerous international organizations,including head quarters of many of the agencies of the united nations and the red cross.It is also the place where the Geneva Conventions were signed.

A 2009 survey by Mercer found Geneva to have the third highest quality of life. It is also ranked  according to 2009 and 2011 survey as the fourth and fifth expensive city in the world.

Traditions and customs: Geneva observes Jeune Genevois on the first Thursday following the first Sunday in September.By local tradition ,this commemorates the date of the St.Bartholomews Day massacre of Huguenots reached Geneva .

Since 1818 a particular chestnut tree has been used as the official”herald of the spring.”

Music: The opera house, the grand Theatre de Geneve ,which officially opened in 1876,was partly destroyed by fire in 1951 and was reopened in 1962.It has the largest stage in Switzerland. It features Opera and dance performances,recitals,concerts, and occasionally theatre..The victoria hall is used for classical music concerts. It is the home of Orchestre de Suisse Romande.

Museums: Museums and galleries are everywhere i n the city.The Palace of Nations,home of the United Nations headquarters  can also be visited.

Sports: Ice hockey is the most popular sport in the city.They also have a football team in Geneva.

Transport: The city is served by the Geneva Comtrin International Airport.It is connected by Geneva airport railway station with both Swiss Federal Railways network and the French SNFC network including Paris.Public transport by bus,trolleybus or tram is provided by Transports Publics Genevois.

Climate: Climate is temperate,winters are mild,usually with light frost at night, and thawing conditions during the day. Summers are pleasantly warm.Precipitation is adequate and is relatively well distributed throughout the year.Autumn is slightly wetter than the rest of the seasons.
