DP Daily Prompt: Binding Judgment

Does it ever make sense to judge a book by its cover—literally or metaphorically? Tell us about a time you did, and whether that was a good decision or not.

As far back as I can remember, I did not pick up books to read by looking at its cover. I went for the title instead.

My early years in teaching I read books if the title was interesting, and recommended them to my nine year old students. There were a lot of books in our classroom shelf, my kids didn’t read they were just not interested.

One day I was looking for a book to read, I found a book the title was,”This Can’t Be Happening At Macdonald Hall.” It immediately caught my attention, I looked at the back of the book and found out it was written by a twelve year old for a class project. His teacher suggested he should publish his story, as advised he took it to the Scholastic publishing company, they were impressed by it and published it. His book was very popular and was read by thousands of students across Canada.

His other books were ,”I Want To Go Home,” this one was a best seller too.He has written many books after.

Another book I read was, “A Dog’s Journey”, then the next one was, “The Art Of Hearing Heartbeats”, I have read many books I have chosen for the title and not the cover.

I also read books by famous authors such as , ‘Paulo Coelho’, I read all his books I liked most of them, the one I did not like was,”Eleven Minutes”, Paulo wasn’t too sure how the book will be received but it did all right.

Daily Prompt: Judgment Day Posted by Ranu

If I were to judge my favourite book by its cover, will I still read it? Yes I will, the cover of a book, makes no difference to me.I pick books by the title and not cover. Recently I read Paulo Coelho’s book,’The Alchemist’,I didn’t even look at the cover.Out of curiosity I took out the book again and looked at the cover. The design is nothing out of the ordinary, there is nothing on it that can make me even a little eager to find out what it is about. The title certainly attracted my attention.I started reading the book and did not stop until I was finished. This is the type of book I will read several times.

Another book that caught my attention, was ,’Proof of Heaven’.This one is written by a neurologist.I could not put it down until I read the whole book. I am embarrassed to admit,I didn’t even look at the cover.I read the title and bought the book. What I am trying to say is,’I do not judge a book by its cover.”
