Daily Prompt : Solitary

In response to daily prompt : Solitary

A Solitary Town

tiny place with seven thousand people,

Solemn and friendly stands the church steeple.

Oh the CO-OP is the place to buy groceries,

Long live our supermarket there is no worries.

I‘m  sure the citizens appreciate this store,

There is none better than this one I am sure.

food inspector comes to check the fresh food,

Rarely will he find stuff  that will change his mood.

Yes everything from food to toiletries are in good shape,

This store is famous for its very own scotch tape.

Oh believe me,  such a fine store does exist,

When you visit this place you’ll be proud I insist.

No  one who comes here is disappointed!

Daily Prompt: Circle of Five

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

A writer once said ,” you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” If this is true which five people would you like to spend your time with?

The five people I’d like to spend my time with are 1. Valerie(my neighbor) 2. Evie ( my college friend) 3. Dilruba (my friend) 4. my daughter and  5. my brother.

All the people I have mentioned possess very unique qualities.

Valerie is an English Prof in the university, she is a delightful person. Recently she came back from Ireland after a three week trip. She brought a beautiful scarf for me.

Evie is my college friend, she has a very sweet personality, she calls me often to tell me about the places she visited. She tells me not to call her, she has a plan where it doesn’t cost her much to call. I told her it doesn’t cost me much either. She insists she’d call me. Isn’t she sweet?

Dilruba is my friend who lives in Montreal, she is very good to me when I visit her. She has three awesome kids, I love them all.

My daughter is an angel, she does a lot for me. She loves to give me gifts. I adore her.

And what can I say about my brother, he is the kindest person I know. He is a writer. He offers online courses. I love taking these courses, I must admit I have learned a lot. I thank him for all the information he provides us.

The above are the five fabulous people I love and adore. They are delightful and the most trustworthy people I know. They make our world a very happy place.

365 writing Prompts: Far from normal

Many of us think of our lives as boringly normal, while others live the high life.Take a step back, and take a look at your life as an outsider might. Now, tell us at least six unique, exciting, or( just plain odd things about yourself).

We all have a different perspective about our life. What I think is normal, someone else may not. My life as I see it is simple, I wake up before sunrise to pray, if I’m up to it I stay up, if I feel my body needs sleep, I go back to sleep. I have, my breakfast, after this I come back to my room turn on my computer, I go to the page to see what the prompts for that day is, I start writing.

Today’s prompt is all about normal, it is something that varies from person to person. I think my life is normal, my neighbor might think it is boring. I’ve heard the word boring,if I define this word all I read is, uninteresting, tedious, dull. To me all these  meanings are foolish.

Can someone honestly tell me writing is dull, uninteresting or tedious. Tedious can have room for it when I am stuck, but I cannot really say it’s uninteresting which reminds me about the fox and the grapes, just because he couldn’t reach the grapes on the tree he declared that the grapes were sour.

Same thing applies to writing I console myself by saying, “It’s uninteresting.”

I consider my life normal, because my days are planned I know exactly how I’ll spend my day. As far as high life goes it’s not normal for me and I do not feel the urge to lead a high life.

I’m not sure I can call it unique, but here are six things about myself: 1. I write every day. 2. I love studying about Iqbal.3. I think these online courses are awesome.4. I spend a part of my time listening to my favorite songs. 5. My daughter and I have two very cute felines. 6. I do not like heavy snowfall, it disrupts my movement, when and if I want to go out, and I am not fond of shoveling.

The above is all about me or part of it.

DP Daily Prompts: Happy Radars

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

Are you a good judge of other people’s happiness? Tell us about a time you were spot on despite external hints to the contrary( or alternatively about a time you were dead wrong.

There are times I do look at a person and am happy to imagine he/she is happy in real life. But some people have a unique way of keeping their negative emotions in check.

There is one such person whom I’ve known for years, by looking at this person it is hard to assume that the said person’s life is not as happy as it seems.

I got a rude awakening when I was told all is not so rosy in this person’s life, as I envisioned!

DP Daily Prompt: West End Girls

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

I lived in a big city until I was twelve. I only saw girls in my school. There was a distinct difference between rich and poor. We had uniforms so the rich girls and boys had to conform.

The difference I saw then was their mode of transportation, while we rode the school bus , they came in fancy cars. Even at that young age they were conscious of their parent’s position.

We all spoke English, as it was a school where the medium of instruction was English. The teachers were nuns. I was one who observed the way the rich spoke English. Their style was unique you’d think they landed in our premises in some kind of golden chariots, and were literally afraid to interact with us. I was amused to watch them,I felt like telling them ,”Hey all you prince and princesses why don’t you go somewhere where there are more snobs like you.”

That was until I was twelve years old. After twelve the scenery changed drastically. We were in a small town. Everyone was normal. There was none of that look, “I’m better than you.”

Our aim was to see who gets better marks. No one was concerned about our attire. We all dressed in ordinary clothes. There may have been some rich kids but I couldn’t see any difference.

We tried to dress up to attend a wedding or a party, which was according to our means. Occasionally we met some women comparing their jewelry with the woman sitting next to her. That was no big deal.

I must say I felt right at home with the small town kids. They were innocent,well-behaved and used their time studying.
