Daily Prompt : Imaginary

In-response to daily post’s one-word prompt  : Imaginary

I’m dreaming of a long wide imaginary street,

On either side  eager  vendors offering a  treat.

Little kids dancing and prancing without fear,

Their parents sitting and watching them near .

Sometimes we must give our minds  much-needed break,

So that daily fear and confusions won’t keep us awake!

Daily Prompt: Childhood Revisited

Sure, you turned out pretty good, but is there anything you wish were different about your childhood? If you have kids,is there anything you wish were different for them?

I love revisiting my childhood, I had the best time in my life. I worried about nothing. My favorite pastime was playing with my siblings.

Studying always took a backseat in those days.As long as I did not flunk out it was fine with me. My parents did not have a whole lot of expectation from me.

I lived a life of pleasure, eating, singing and playing just about summed up my life  those days.

Then everything changed, my father died, we had to leave our comfortable home and move away to my parents homeland. I disliked everything about it, too many cousins, aunts uncles who made it their business to tell us what we should and shouldn’t do.

Although the vendors, the milkman, and the ad of movies was a novelty for me. This was something I liked and appreciated, it told me there’s more to life than, cousins, uncles and aunts.

Looking back on those days, I wonder what kind of a student I could have been, if I concentrated on my studies a little more. My teachers never told me I was stupid, they were happy with my work. They probably would have liked me better for working harder and I could become my teacher’s pet. Even now this thought does not agree with my personality.

In the end I’d only say, I like what I did. Nothing can equal the pleasure I had as one would say,”it was a blast!”

DP Daily Prompt: In loving Memory

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

I will not write an obituary of me, instead I will write about the little town where we lived and grew up.

The town is Comilla, it’s in Bangladesh. It was a very quiet peaceful town when we went there to live. Thakurpara was the name of the neighborhood , I guess it was a neighborhood where most of the people were mostly Hindus, so the name Thakurpara was appropriate.

Our neighborhood was full of small ponds where the people spend time swimming and hanging out to get relief from the hot summer.

Transportation used mostly were rickshaws, we enjoyed visiting our aunts and uncles in rickshaws. There was one rickshaw driver who had a bad temper, he got into arguments with his passengers. Everyone knew him and they tried not to hire him. Most of them were very nice.

There were vendors who sold, vegetables, fish and chicken. It was convenient because we all could buy food from them without having to go to shops.

My mom had to go in a rickshaw to buy rice, sugar, tea and other things from the shops in the bazaar.

With the increase in population, there are hardly any open spaces, there are shops everywhere.
