DP Daily Prompt: April 2nd

This morning I communicated with my blogger friends online. Although I’ve never seen or heard them I’m comfortable writing to them. There are so many options in English , the vocabulary helps, it is quite easy to communicate with friends using words.

I’m able to convey my feelings using words connected to feeling. In fact I’ve written a long email to my friend, who has no trouble understanding what I’m thinking . Sometimes icons are helpful to convey a message such as happy, unhappy.

DP Daily Prompt: Morton’s Fork

If you had to choose between able, to write a blog( but not read others’) and being able to read others’ blogs( but not write your own), which would you pick? Why?

Honestly speaking,I will choose neither.

The style of writing of every one is different, their choice of words, their likes and dislikes, how they feel about something or anything gives me the kind of motivation I can never get just by writing.

Which brings up the following,Why do we read a variety of books?Do we read for pleasure only or do we learn from it? If I were to answer this question, I’d say we get pleasure and knowledge by reading books. The knowledge can be as simple as increasing my vocabulary, it can be to improve my writing.

If I just write and do not read, whether it’s fiction non-fiction or even a blog, I’m withholding my chances to be a better writer.

Reading others’ work opens up a lot of possibilities, of learning, increasing my vocabulary, the art of writing and there are so many things!

365 Writing Prompts: The perfect game

You’re set to play poker( or scrabble or something else—-) with a group of four. Write a story set during this game.Or describe the ideal match, the players, the relationships— and the hidden rivalries.

I’ll go for Scrabble, this is a game I’m familiar with, or Monopoly, I’ve played both these games with my siblings many times and my children as well.

The only problem I face is one of my children does not like losing. Ideally we play games because it’s a source of entertainment, if there are players who’d like to win all the time, the game is stressful.

My ideal team would be: me, my daughter Seeta, my neighbor Jackie and my friend Joan. This to my knowledge will be an ideal team. None of us are worried about winning or losing.

We’d have our seven tiles, the tiles are always face down to avoid cheating. It is a good idea to be able to use all seven tiles at once, if I start the game. It all depends on what the letters are, if I get the letter “Q” and someone else gets “U” I won’t be able to use all the letters. there is a lot of strategy required to play the game well.

Concentration is one of the keys to win or come close to winning, also vocabulary is very important, dictionaries are not allowed.

If all the players get reasonably good letters the game is exciting, otherwise if you can tell from the very start who has a better chance it’s not that encouraging.

DP Daily Prompt: Fearless Fantasies

How would your life be different if you were incapable of feeling fear? Would your life be better than it is now?

Fear is one word that ruins my life, I always have to think of so many things before I decide to do tasks that are too complex, one fine example is I don’t go out in the evening, the reason is I’m afraid of all those witches,warlocks and night riders that might be lurking on the streets, the alleys,in the corner, on top of houses, you name it they’d be there.

This is only one aspect, then there are others who may think why am I out there in the evening, I know it’s none of their business, but they are nosy, cannot use their time wisely, so back biting is what they do.

Yes if I can rid fear off my vocabulary, I’d be better off.

My life , I cannot complain couldn’t be better with or without fear, I’m happy, I’m not interested to change anything.
