Daily Prompt : Gingerly

In response to one-word prompt : Gingerly

Gingerly I was walking to school that day,

Not knowing who I would meet will say.

How long have you been in this snowy town?

I looked up  and saw a woman with a frown.

Cautiously I replied with a hesitant smile,

‘My dear believe it or not it’s been a while,

But I cannot get used to the icy roads of winter,

Each day I count how long will this weather,

Give me grief, I’m sorry for complaining,

This is truly something I wasn’t expecting.’

She gave me a sarcastic look and moved on,

I watchfully took small steps to my destination!

Daily Prompt : Better

In response to daily post’s one-word prompt : Better

Better weather indeed  will come,

Even if it’s hard to believe my chum.

Take out your summer clothes y’all,

Try to congregate in the big Mall.

Each one please bring your family,

Randy, Eden, Tommy,  and Emily!

daily Prompt: BREATH

pod-2016-sm.png (308×60)

Today’s Prompt: Breath

It’s quite cold today, so much so I can see my breath. I would have liked it better if I didn’t experience this seeing my breath. But nature has its own reason, why it doesn’t want us to feel too warm in April.

We speak of the weather too much, I’d leave the weather alone and write about a more interesting subject.

It’s better to weave a different story using the prompt in a more positive way.

I’m writing about a  pretty girl , whom I taught in school. Her presence in my class  seemed like a  breath of fresh air.

This story begins with Heather. She was one of the kids I taught. She had the most pleasant disposition compared with others  I came into contact with. At only nine years of age she had the God given gift of making everyone around her happy. She possessed all the qualities of a trained young lady, she was witty, intelligent, mannerly and a very eager and a good student. I always wondered what she’d be like when she was older.

She did not disappoint me, she visited me  one snowy morning to offer help to clear my driveway. At first I didn’t recognize her, she reminded me, she was in my class in grade four. I was delighted, she lived across the street from us. I was told she’d finished her degree in Music, and was interested to register in the faculty of medicine.

I lost touch with her and sometimes wonder if she was selected to study medicine. May be someday out of nowhere she’d arrive at my doorstep with her stethoscope around her  neck,  asking me do I still want to take piano lessons from her!

Daily Prompts: Ripped Into the Headline

pod-2016-sm.png (308×60)

Write about something that happened over the weekend, as though it’s the top story on your local paper.

Here in St. John’s there was a hot debate going on as to who should be elected as the Prime Minister of Canada, the election is over and we have a new Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, yes the son of the most charismatic Prime Minister we ever had, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, he was never shy to express himself, who wouldn’t if one was Mr. Trudeau. He was fluent in both English and French. Justin the son appears to be quite smart. We’ll have to wait and see how he performs his role.

Then we had our Provincial election, the liberals won, that took the heading.

Now that the elections are done with, the weather is making headlines. We will have a blizzard,I hope 2016 spares us from all the storms we had in the past winters.

I am sitting in my room hearing the howling winds and wondering at the same time how bad will it be. Last evening I noticed the wind picked up and snow was falling, the schools were closed, it did not make any difference to me or the felines, we were in our room, glad we did not have to go out to face the terrible weather.

This morning I had the urge to clear the snow that fell last night, I dressed up, I opened the door , unfortunately after the snow, we had some rain, the temperature dropped and the driveway is icy. I couldn’t clear the front porch it was rock solid, I’m hoping the temperature would go up and the ice will melt, so I can clear some of the snow.

I presume the local paper would say the same thing, I’m guessing, I don’t usually buy the paper unless I want to know what’s on sale.I think the closing comments of Tagore would have been: Amaar Kauthati Phuralo, Notay Gaachti muralo, meaning my words have ended and the tree’s top is chopped off! 🙂

Writing 201: Poetry,Day 5:map, ode, metaphor

Assignment: Today’s form:Ode

Device: Metaphor

Subject: Map

Metaphors are making me ill,

Truthful I am listen and be still.

I have to deal with map ,

which is sitting on my lap.

And think of this which is an ode,

It is already making me a toad!

Now I will attempt my assignment, the above is a warm-up, before I exercise my feeble brain!!

Oh my city ! You are so windy and bold,

I wish you were peaceful for me to behold.

Daily I’m perplexed with your uncanny weather,

You love to see me shiver and suffer.

City of hills, winding roads and fashionable cars,

A small one though, but it’s proud of its bars.

The jolly old folks have many stories to tell,

If you are patient and have no fear of a belle.

Still as I observe each new and old scene,

How much change is now, and what it had been.

I wonder at times if the chilly air,

Will take me away to a land that is fair!

Daily Prompt: The Golden Hour

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

6:AM : The best hour of the day, or too close to your 3:AM bedtime?

Since the 18th of June my best hour of day is 2:AM , it will continue till the 17th of July. Ramadan started on June 18th and will end after 17th July.

I wake up at 2:AM to eat something, say my prayer and go back to bed at 3:30 AM.  My Golden Hour  in my mind is 9:03 PM . This is the time I get to eat and drink my meals after 19 hours of fasting.

In the morning I wake up usually at 7:AM , today I stayed in bed till 8:AM. Yesterday my quiet routine was interrupted by loss of heat and hot water. The system probably took a break, I could not let it because every room in the house was freezing. In June you may ask, yes our weather does not observe the same routine as the other places on the planet.

Fortunately we have 24/7 burner service, the men very kindly came and fixed what was ailing our furnace. It’s working like a charm, and I hope it continues!

Daily Prompt: State of Your Year

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

How is this year shaping up so far? Write a post about your biggest challenge and achievements thus far.

Year 2015 is shaping up to be be a pretty good one. In January we did not have as much snow as the previous years. February was cold, it was not unusual it’s always cold, there was no difference. March  did not come like a lion but certainly roared like a lion as it bid us goodbye till next year. We missed the lamb, I suppose nature was angry with us and did not give us a break.

I found April annoying instead of bringing Spring weather, it snowed  and was unusually cold.

And we have May, it is the nineteenth day and it hasn’t decided if it wants to be a little warmer or continue with the chilly winds. This is the year so far about the weather.

My biggest challenge so far is taming our feline Raphael, for some reason he thinks he must give us a hard time to keep us honest. He cannot be trusted, he comes into my room and starts chewing the covers of my books. Dousing him with water does not do the job, he shakes himself in the wink of an eye, ready to damage anything that comes his way.

I cannot recollect any achievement of mine which deserves mention. I can only say I’ve discovered plenty of snakes, I have to look for their enemy the mongoose.Watch this video.

Isn’t it a good one?

DP Daily Prompt: Nothin’ But A Good Time

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

Imagine that tomorrow, all of your duties and obligations evaporate for the day. You get the day all to yourself, to do anything you please. What types of fun activities would make your day?

If I’m fortunate enough to get a day all to myself, meaning I won’t have to feed the kittens, cook, clean, or write prompts.

This day would be super cool. I’d listen to all my favorite songs, when I’m tired, I will call my college friend in Whitby Ontario, will talk about the good old days, talk about the rest of our classmates, how they are and where they live.

Next I’d go to the Mall and walk for a while to increase the number of steps I’ve taken, which is great, then I wouldn’t have to achieve my goal by running in place for more than an hour.

After walking around the covered mall for an hour, hoping it would be enough to reach my goal, I’d stop by at the food court to have something to eat.

Weather permitting, I’d get out of the mall and walk in the parking lot to get some fresh air. I’d go in again and stop at the Cole’s bookstore to see if there is any interesting book I can buy to do some reading. If there is nothing I like I’d step into Winners store, browse around, I may pick up a thing or two or buy nothing because the line at the counter is too long and I wouldn’t waste this off day standing in line for a half hour.

I’d come out of the mall take route 2 my bus, come home, wear some comfortable clothes and get my eleven hundred page book, ” Atlas Shrugged” will read it till I’m sleepy.

This would be an ideal way of spending my free time.

365 Writing Prompts: VIP

Who’s the most important person in your life– and how would your day-to-day existence be different without them?

Does it have to be a person for it to be VIP? To me my most important thing is getting up in the morning to check what is the writing prompt for the day.

There are days when I feel I’m not sure what I’ll write, I like it because I have something to do. Without it I’d be lost. There is the TV but I do not like everything they show. Having written that, I do need it to know the weather forecast, the temperature, sometimes I like watching the weather forecasters how they seem excited when there is stormy weather to report.

Lately I am interested to watch the food channel the competitions between chefs is wonderful !

365 Writing Prompts: The Stat Connection

Go to your Stats page and check your three–five posts. Why do you think they’ve been successful? Find the connection between them, and write about it.

I checked my stats, there isn’t much connection, there . It maybe different groups of viewers and visitors read those particular posts, some like Tagore’s poems and his songs, others feel the same about a topic I’ve written about, such as, “Can’t watch this”.

I know weather is always an interesting topic for a lot of people, unexpected changes in the weather gets more attention than usual. Sudden shifts was of interest to more people, they compare what happened when they faced unexpected weather, how they coped with it.

I think when the prompts sound interesting more people read it.
