Daily Prompt: Through the Window
Go to the nearest window. Look out for a full minute. Write about what you see.
I recall writing this prompt some time ago. the nearest window is the one in my bedroom. Since I’ve already looked out and expressed how awesome it looked through this window. my mind wants me to do the same with the one further away from me, it’s one facing the front of the house.
As I stood there William Wordsworth came to mind, what he would have written compared to my meaningless words. I went to my window further away, saw a runner plowing away trying to keep her body fit, while I looked on. There were two others a mother and daughter I presume racing with each other trying to see who can get there first, where I don’t know but the spectacle caught my attention.
Moving on I gazed at the majestic maple trees now in full bloom, green are their leaves and attractive. They know it wouldn’t last the ‘Fall’ would very cruelly shed their leaves on one stormy day and they’d be standing still with nothing to boast of, but bare trees with naked branches.
On the material side I’m watching a group of men with their machines replacing the green grass with asphalt to convert the place into a parking lot, all because the owners want to make money by renting it to vehicle owners. I feel terrible the greenery is replaced by black tar.
This shows how we’d do anything to wipe out traces of nature. Why do we complain about the weather, we are responsible for changing the climate, which reminds me, “you reap what you sow! 😦
Daily Prompt: Lookin’ Out My Back Door
Look out you back window or door__ describe what you see,as if you were trying to convey the scene to someone from another country or planet.
This is an imaginary dialogue with my brother, who’s visiting me from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Me: Hey Riaz, come and see the scene from my back window.
Riaz: Ranu, your backyard is large, don’t you grow some vegetables and flowers?
Ranu: We have a bed where we planted some perennials.
Riaz: What are perennials?
Ranu : These are variety of flowers, like tulips, daffodils and peonies,petunias. Once you plant them, you do not have to plant them again they come year after year. This way is cheaper, not like annuals they have to be planted every year.
Riaz: Who mows your lawn, it looks beautiful, I like how green the grass is?
Ranu: I used to mow the lawn one time but as you can see the land is not flat, I found it challenging to continue mowing. I had to hire the lawn care people. Their company is called, “Affordable Lawn Care,” I’ve often told the owner the name of your company should be named , “Unaffordable Lawn Care”.
Riaz : Who owns these trees?
Ranu : One beside the driveway on the right side, belongs to us, the other one in the middle of our lawn and the neighbor’s, belongs to my next door neighbor.
Riaz: the leaves of these trees are very interesting , what is the name of the trees?
Ranu: They are maple trees, in the Autumn the leaves fall off the trees and the trees are bare. When you see them in the winter, you might think the trees are dead, but this is not the case. In Spring the leaves begin to show up by summer the trees are covered with leaves.
Riaz: I see your neighbor’s roof, what is it covered with?
Ranu: They are shingles, they last for over twenty years. Now that you’ve seen my backyard what do you think?
Riaz: Your backyard is awesome, it is worth it to hire professionals to look after it.

365 Writing Prompts: Landscape
When you gaze out your window—real or figurative– do you see the forest or the trees?
I am in front of my computer, I can see what’s out there, it’s not a very optimistic view. The rain is falling and my neighbor’s tree sans the leaves is standing still with occasional breeze moving its brown tiny branches to and fro, reminding me if I go out ,I better dress warm because nature is not providing the warmth.
Then there is the dull grey sky trying its best to provide some room for the sun to show itself, for us to hope, maybe just may be the sun will take over and the clouds will be pushed out.
Then there is that sound of some crows, who probably are wondering, we thought it’s spring why do we see snow, they are reminding in their own language to nature: “Did you forget the season, it’s Spring for God’s sake we want flowers, fruits and the pretty birds, why aren’t they here.”
To which nature replies: “It’s not my fault, ask your humans, they are the ones who are destroying everything on this planet, ask them when will they stop littering, drive cars, that are not environment friendly, need I say more, do not blame me blame the humans.”
The poor crows are sad and they are saying,” Humans please co-operate, so we can have decent weather!”

DP Daily Prompt: World’s Best Widget
I am not sure what kind of widget I can invent. It certainly won’t be, “World’s Best”, maybe the other way around might sound possible. Let me see how I can use this engineering skill that I am granted to invent ONE gadget.
I will build something with wood,I have plenty of this thing in my house, I’m waiting to see how it can be used to build a magical widget. Lately I noticed there are certain things I need to carry on my work. With the skills I’m granted,I’d build a gadget that will have power to speak and sing. Every time I publish my post,this gadget on the touch of a button will speak,sing and dance and attract the passers by to come and read my amazing post.My gadget made of wood will have windows from where a head will pop out and sing about my post. The other window will have a creature with eyes which would use its magnet to drag the people to my blog. The third window will distribute goodies, such as chocolate, candies,pizza ,hot dogs. Who wouldn’t like to stop and taste it. The condition would be they have to read the post and comment,then they’d be eligible.
Sound quite desperate doesn’t it!

I went to the nearest window. These are the things I saw. Two houses, one is white with grey roof,the other one is also white with black roof.
I can see garbage on the end of their driveway, recycle and waste. Those to be recycled are in blue bags, others are in black plastic bags.
Oh right across my house there is a grey Subaru parked in their driveway.
There is some snow on the lawns.
When I was almost finished counting sixty seconds, the green garbage truck stopped in front of my neighbor’s driveway to pick up the garbage.
This is all I saw. My street is relatively quiet in the morning. Everyone already left for work or school.
