365 Writing Prompts: Island of misfit posts

We all have something we’d like to write about, but that doesn’t really “fit” our blog. Write it anyway.

Ramadan Mubarak to everyone. Today is the sixth day of fasting. Here in St John’s it is easier to fast because so far the days are much cooler than  in  places, i.e. Dhaka Bangladesh, Karachi Pakistan.

I woke up at 2:02 a.m it meant I have to get up wash and eat something, food this early wasn’t appealing to me, however I knew I must eat or else I’d have to wait until it’s 9:02 pm to eat or drink anything.

I went to the kitchen got my usual two Jacob’s crackers, took out a slice of cheese, put them on a plate and microwaved it for twenty seconds. Next I poured some milk in my mug and heated it. I was ready to eat.

It took me less than ten minutes to eat my early breakfast.

Next I said my prayers before the morning prayer. At 3:03 I said my morning prayer, read a part of the Qur’an and went back to bed.

Although I intended to sleep till 8:am I could not and had to get up at 6:30 am. Since I left my bed, I’ve done a few things like wrote a five sentence fiction, added another paragraph of comment to my previous comment on the course blog.

Now I’m writing the 365 writing prompt. I’m writing something that doesn’t really “fit” my blog, I’m writing it anyway because the title of the prompt is ,”Island Of Misfit Posts.”

Before I conclude I must add, the fasting this day will be over at 9:02 pm in my neck of the woods. I hope Readers I did not bore you to tears! 🙂

DP Daily Prompts:

Someone or something you can’t communicate through writing( a baby, a pet, an object), can understand every single word you write today, for one day only. What do you tell them?

This is what I’ll tell, Raphael and Gabriel, our two feline pets:

Look at me Raphael and Gabriel, today I want you to be very good boys.

1.    You must not try to open my closet and pull my clothes down on the floor.

2. You will get one treat if you behave.

3. If you sleep all morning I will give you moist food.

4. If you stay awake you will only get dry food.

5. Do not jump on the piano, your claws are too sharp you will make scratch marks.

6. you can go to the window and look out.

7. You are good boys I will give you an extra treat.

8. Do not eat paper , Rafa it’s not good for you.

These are a few things I tell them every day, if they know what I’m saying it’d be great even if  it’s only for a day.

DP Daily Prompt: Terminal time

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

You’re at the airport, your flight is delayed for six more hours, and none of your electronic devices is working. How do you pass the time?

A few years ago I went to the airport ten hours before the flight, When I checked the time before leaving I thought the flight was at 10 am, When I went to the counter to check in, the good man looked at me and my boarding pass, he wasn’t sure himself whether it was 10 am or 10 pm, when he looked at it the second time, he took a deep breath and rather gently gave me the bad news, “Good Heavens He expressed , Your Flight Is At 10 pm!”

I was embarrassed my brother and sister-in law had come to see me off, suggested I should go back with them, I refused to give them any more trouble and opted to stay at the airport.

You can never get bored at ‘Heathrow Airport’, there is so much to see and do, hours pass by sooner than you think.

I went to the lounge, looked around for a place to sit I sat down when I found one that I liked. I spent the first hour watching people, there were so many interesting people coming in and going out. There were people flocking to the duty free shop to buy cigarettes, candy and bottles of whisky.

I have no idea how much cheaper the duty free things are, I know the word free attached to duty certainly catches the attention of the travelers, so they buy as if this deal will subsidize the money they paid for their tickets.

Having spent considerable time watching the passengers,I felt it was time for me to eat something, I noticed a restaurant with a large sign, “EAT” I immediately got up and headed to that restaurant, they had sandwiches and other foods, for the sake of safety I chose a simple sandwich, I didn’t want to get sick while traveling.

There were five hours to go before I could board my flight, I came back to my favorite place and sat down, I looked around to see if I wanted to buy something, there were all kinds of chocolate, I bought some, back to my seat I came.

Another four hours my watch said, have you noticed when you want the hours to go faster they slow down or so it seems?

I saw the sign “Boots” made up my mind to check it out, there was nothing there I wanted,it helped me to stretch my legs for sitting so long. I think I spotted an interesting magazine, I picked it up and turned the pages, wasn’t one I’d think of buying I put it back in the shelf.

I must have spent a lot of time in that store, when I came out I looked at the video, OH My God I said my flight is boarding.

I rushed to the gate after checking in I went to sit in the passengers’ lounge. I was at ease I’d soon board the flight.

Everything after boarding the flight went well, I reached my destination safely. I cautioned myself, make sure you read the time properly, when in doubt ask someone.

Writing Prompt: The satisfaction of a list

Who doesn’t love a list? So write one!  Top five slices of Pizza in your town, ten reasons Disco will never die, the three secrets to Happiness–go silly or go deep just go list-Y

These are my three secrets to “Happiness”

1. Mind my business

2. Become a serious thinker

3. Eat what I like

1. Mind my business: We live in a crazy world where minding my business may not be that easy. I am willing to try and see if it makes me completely insane or wiser than I am. My plan is to read my novel,it is a good one,the title is,” Art of Hearing Heartbeats”it’s translated from German by Kevin Wiliarty. It I hope will  take my mind off from thinking about the trivialities of life.

2. Become a serious thinker: This one will be a very satisfying thing for my heart and soul. I’d be able to hang out with the famous thinkers by reading their writings about their view on life. I’d learn from Iqbal about awareness of self,  from Tagore the the mysteries of his poems and songs. From Socrates about life in general.

3. Eat what I like:  I will buy everything I like from the super market. Each day I’d make a casserole to save time. If I get tired of the casserole I’d switch to chicken curry and rice. This will continue for a few days. My next dish I’d make would be vegetable Biriyani. This I hope will last for another week. I’d rotate this for a month. By the time the month is over I’d have had enough. Then it’d be sandwiches and soup.

I am positive minding my own business, becoming a serious thinker and eating what I like will keep my sanity in check and I’d be a very happy person!

DP Daily Prompt: Write Here, Write Now

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

I am trying to write this post in the  present tense. When I am restricted to write a certain way. I feel trapped. Let me see if this will work out for me.

I am sitting in front of my computer. I’m trying to think what I can write. I know . I see my books are lying helter -skelter. They are earnestly begging me to tidy them up. I’m telling them, “right now I’m doing something  else so leave me alone fussy books.”  They are making so much noise my eardrums will explode.

I am going to the kitchen to see if I can get something to eat. Look at my fridge, isn’t it pathetic there is nothing I see here I can eat.

I am going to my living room to watch TV. I’m turning it on, “jeepers there is nothing good.”  They are saying it can start snowing any minute. I don’t want to know about snow.

I am going back to my room.  Hey I am reading this book about, publishing a novel in nine months. I’m not sure I can write one in nine years. It’s only me and I am incapable of doing anything good.

Here’s a question for you my friends,”Can you write a novel in nine months?”

“Yes we can they are saying.”

I’m so disappointed I’m the only who cannot .

Goodbye my Friends. Todays prompt is not easy!!
